First day of gardening off the seedlings I started indoors. In case you wonder, this means that you take those pampered little plants outside every day for a little bit longer until they're tough enough to survive in the elements. Because it's so warm today, they're getting an hour or two. But it's not just about temperatures. It's also about exposure to natural light (they've been living under grow lights) and wind. Some people use fans to harden off indoor seedlings, but me, I'd rather let nature work for me much as possible! #startingseedsindoors #seedstarting #seedlings #hardeningoff #urbangardening #organicgardeningmethods #urbanorganicgardening #organicgardening #growfood #groworganic #growyourown #thedirtonorganicgardening (at Pasadena, California)

Not sure why, but my peppers are taking a really long time to grow. I transplanted them I to a larger pot and gave them a half dose of liquid fertilizer. 6 trays went out today for their first hardening off session only 5-6 more times to go. I’m hoping they will be ready for new homes soon! #pnwgardening #jupiterbellpepper #jupiterpeppers #hardeningoff https://www.instagram.com/p/B_6LXFSAXTq/?igshid=1ig6yj8ks45kw
Day #1 of hardening off the starts! The tomatoes are starting to come back so while they'll be stunted at least I'll have some to plant still. Yay! I think I really burned them big time with that fertilizer. . . #hardeningoff #plants #garden #coloradogarden #garden2020 #boulder #boulderco #bouldercolorado #colorado #frontrange #lafayette #lafayetteco #lafayettecolorado #louisville #louisvilleco #louisvillecolorado #erie #eriecolorado #longmont #longmontcolorado #longmontco #bigashfarmcolorado #bigashfarm #bigashfarmco #farm #farmlife https://www.instagram.com/p/B_wFnk4gNKn/?igshid=mvraq01vhz2n
Tomato farm update: they're thirsty! 💦 I've been hardening them off this week on the balcony where they get lots of sun but are sheltered from the wind. I hope it warms up soon so that I can get the studio garden started, get these babies into proper pots and finally get my jewellery bench back! 😬🍅#tomatofarm #plantbabies #hardeningoff #heirloom #seedlings #oakville
There are now twenty-four hours of sunlight. The air is charged with elec-trip day energy and I am getting used the clock hands reaching into late. But there is so much to do. There is a yurt to ro…

Hopefully your dahlia tubers overwintered, or you may have bought new tubers earlier this year. Either way, they should now be romping away with lots of fresh growth. Don’t be tempted to plant them out in the garden too soon; harden them off before planting out later on in the month.
