Reflection

I got to see Counterparts for the third time last Thursday. I was proud to see that a band which has done so much for me, was getting the recognition they deserved and had earned. I had doubts that the wave of fans coming in were real, I thought they were all just bandwagoners or stupid pop punk kids who found Counterparts on tumblr with their lyrics over a mountain or some shit, but I was really happy to see that people actually have a fuck about the band and knew the words and went crazy. For the final two songs I had what were arguably the best moments of my life. I got to scream "you are the difference between hell and home" right into the mic. All I could think about was her. All she's done for me and what she means. Maybe I'm just some stupid kid who doesn't know the first thing about love, but what I do know is that there is no better description of her than that. She is the difference between hell and home. And on the last song "The disconnect", I finally got to say what I've always wanted to say. "I fucking hate the world, I fucking hate myself, I fucking swore I'd never feel like this." I screamed that right into the mic. The whole room was screaming with me but I could only hear myself. I have never felt so at peace as I did in that moment. I know everyone heard me and I'm okay with that. Maybe all I wanted was to be heard, to be understood. I screamed at the top of my lungs and from the bottom of my heart. I meant it. I fucking hate everything, but I do love some things. Her, shows and music. Her and these shows I go to and the bands I love and respect are the difference between hell and home. Thanks Counterparts.

Yo tumblr I'd really appreciate it if you listened to a song me and my friend wrote called "Fate Has It". Its for our acoustic project River Bird. His last name is Piccioni which means "Pigeon" and mine is Rivas which means "Lives by the river" so that's how we got the name. Im the guy on the right singing and attempting to hold back burps ahahahha (note to self don't eat pizza before recording). I apologize for the going flat at times I was improving some parts. Mestis - Luz y Cielo

This is such a beautiful track. So calm and peaceful. This is all I've listened to for the past week. My mind blanks when I listen to it and I feel so at ease. Those opening riffs make me kind of sad but good at the same time if that makes any sense. The rest just carries me away. The title is so appropriate seeing as "Luz y Cielo" translates from Spanish into "light and sky (or heaven)". It is quite heavenly. For those that can appreciate instrumental music I highly recommend checking out this track. It is a song written by one of the guitar players of Animals As Leaders, Javier Reyes. Truly wonderful playing. It just takes the weight off your shoulders. Serenity. That is the only word to describe it.
