Gone (rip)
gone : my muse stays by your muses side while they take their last breath.
It was quick. She had been laughing and suddenly Harley’s laughter was no more. The world never felt so silent. Time had never stood this still. Selina never felt this-- “HARLEY!” The gun shot that had filled the air continued ringing in her ears as she tossed her opponent to the side and ran toward her best friend. “Kitten...Harley....Harls please. Hold it together.” Harley had survived worse. She had gone through it all. Surely this couldn’t be it. There wasn’t a world, a universe where Selina ever imagined she’d be without her best friend. “Babygirl...please...” She picked up her friend’s body into her arms, brushing away the pink, blue, and blonde locks away from her face. “Hey...heyyy.” She smiled through tears and cradled her closely to her chest. “You’re not going anywhere, okay? Pam--Pam’s coming now. She’s...you gotta stay awake for us, kitten. You just have to.” She begged and pleaded and cried and Selina felt the tightening in her neck, her carotid artery pulsating aggressively against her neck. “You die, I die. Remember? Remember? Harley! Remember we said that back at Arkham! HARLEY!” But she wouldn’t react. Not a smile, not a laugh, not a single joke to reassure Selina she was okay. Harley was gone. Just like that.
She felt the click behind her head and Selina placed her best friend’s body on the ground gently before turning around and wrapping her hand around the revolver the press it even harder against her forehead. “You killed her.” She never felt so much hatred. “You killed my best friend!” As if he’d care. She was just another casualty in this stupid war and Selina was tired. With one swift move, she disarmed the opponent, taking the gun from his hand and pointing it at his chest as she rose slowly from her position.
“It’s only fair...”
