Hey Sparx! I hope this is okay to ask, how are you doing, mentally I mean? Everything okay?
If that’s not okay to ask, then feel free to ignore, just wanted to check in 🎶😊
everything's fine!! i hope you're not getting worried bc i've got commissions open. i'm not in crisis, i just opened my first ever bank account recently and want my own money, haha. i did receive some really disappointing news recently but that's personal irl stuff that i'm not going to talk about here. it's nothing serious and i am otherwise doing ok and normal!! thanks for checking in though!

[Without waiting for you to press the A Button, CODY uses the BALL on their own.]
[Most of the other players are willing to take what CODY tells them at face value. When CODY said that CHARIZARD would have spun the truth about the hacker's death just to make their players hate them, no one even questioned it. But you always suspected that CODY only killed CHARIZARD to keep it silent, to hide an ugly truth that they didn't want you to know about. You just couldn't prove it. And with CHARIZARD gone, you know that CODY will never tell you on their own.]
[But there was something else you think CODY wanted you to take at face value, too: CHARIZARD's death itself. The solution to it was so obvious in retrospect, you're kicking yourself for not thinking of trying this sooner.]
[You commandeer CODY's body, using the directional pad to bring them all the way upstairs to the room that held CHARIZARD's tombstone.]
[After making them stand in front of it, you open the pause menu. ]
[You select the ITEM option, and scroll down to the POKé FLUTE.]
[Your eyebrows raise skeptically at CODY's plea, and you suddenly feel a sense of vindication. So they did consider reviving CHARIZARD with the POKé FLUTE as a possibility, and they were just hoping that you would be too stupid to realize it. Was that the real reason they wanted to avoid this room?]
[You ignore the pleas of CODY and your fellow players, spitefully pressing the A Button.]
[Suddenly, the screen begins to shake, and a very loud, distorted CHARIZARD cry rumbles from the GAME BOY's speakers, with intensity strong enough to make it vibrate in your hands.]
[After a moment, the shaking stops. The POKéMON TOWER theme does not replay afterwards. The game is eerily quiet.]
Hey Sparks, first off, HAPPY LATE VALENTINE’S DAY!!!!
And second, have you ever tried a nuzlocke on a pokemon game before? I have, and it was fun, but brutal as I get overly attached to my moms X3
THANKS HARMONY!! RIGHT BACK AT YOU!!
anyways- yes! i have!
although admittedly my only successful runs have been in kanto.
my first nuzlocke was of platinum which was a VERY bad choice. i lost my most valuable mons at canalave city and wiped.
maybe one day i'll redeem myself!
i've also done a run of FRLG. nothing too crazy!
but i think my fondest memories are of my two gimmick runs of pokemon creepy black - ghostlocke and curselocke, specifically.
ghostlocke was kind of. my first attempt at a long-running comic. i didn't even make it to the first gym before i decided that drawing backgrounds wasn't fun.
but i still think about this story and these characters a lot, even if they only exist in my head!!
curselocke followed the same premise as ghostlocke, but with the added rule of no healing items allowed (except in-between E4 battles).
i wanted to take it seriously, but we ended up having a recurring gag character who kept tormenting us periodically throughout the run. pretty sure i broke the rules at one point just to try and keep that gag character alive.
the entire playthrough is up on my (admittedly painfully underused) VODs channel if you're curious!
one of my favorite clips from the run is probably This One where a random gym trainer in erika's gym nearly massacred my entire team:
between the two, i think ghostlocke is probably my favorite.
ghostlocke was my first time nuzlocking gen 1 kanto, so i carefully and lovingly raised my team. each one of them was lost due to a mistake in my judgment or a critical hit at the wrong place and time, which makes me grieve for what could've been if i had played a little smarter.
but when i think back to curselocke, i remember it as the run i didn't take seriously because i had already done it all before - so all of the deaths in it were the result of laziness or carelessness. and the entire time it was plagued by a running gag character that made it hard to take the run seriously from a narrative perspective. the happy ending of ghostlocke's story depended on keeping one specific pokemon alive, but i lost it to a critical hit. and because of that, i still grieve for the deaths in my ghostlocke run a lot more. it was a very emotional story from start to finish.
i don't think i'll ever finish the comic in the way i wanted to, so maybe maybe someday i'll post a plot outline for ghostlocke, if enough people want it! i'd love to ramble about those guys someday...
