Kohli v. International Clothiers, 2012 HRTO 153 The court accepted that her store manager told Ms. Kohli that she was not fit to serve as an assistant manager because she was a woman and that when she questioned these decisions, she was retaliated.
Case #2 Gender, disability, association and reprisal
Knibbs v. Brant Artillery Gunners Club, 2011 HRTO 1032 Ms. Cribbs and Ms. Long were bartenders of the Brent Artillery Gunners Club and were fired. While Ms. Knibbs was on sick leave, she was downgraded full-time to a part-time job and her confidential medical information was announced and she was laid off. When she filed a human rights claim, she was accused of stealing and reporting to the police.
Case #3 Age
Tearne v. City of Windsor 2011 HRTO 2294 After Mr. Tearne could not complete the pre-job test related to the heart test, Windsor City withdrew the conditional employment notice as part-time arena staff.
Case #4 Gender & Race
Chuvalo v. Toronto Police Services Board, 2010 HRTO 2037
Ms. Chuvalo was terminated by the Toronto Police Department after her supervisor formally filed a formal complaint regarding harassment based on gender, ethnic origin and descent.
Case #5 Gender, sexual harassment
Kotevski v. 1217993 Ontario Wimpy’s Diner, 2011 HRTO 705
Ms. Kotevski was subject to repeated harassment over a period of two years that escalated in the last year of her employment. She was subjected to sexual assault by her employer, and afraid and anxious to be alone in the restaurant.
