Finished Bravely, and I just have to say: I LOVED IT! From the characters to the character dynamics to the overall message and themes to the bittersweet romance between Merida and her nonbinary lover. I’m going to be making in-depth reviews for all the characters, the writing, and the queerness of it all because boy, do I have a lot to say. I won’t give too much away yet, but all I will say is this: If you’re a fan of Merida, you’ll love Bravely. Her characterization is still very much spot on except for she’s matured from her teenage years, so that adds a more adult-like alteration to her previous traits. If you’re a fan of Brave, you’ll love Bravely. The magic, the beauty of medieval Scotland, and the importance of family is the primary focus of the book. If you’re a lesbian Merida truther, you’ll love Bravely. She shows absolutely no romantic nor sexual attraction towards any man whatsoever, only showing love for the genderless entity whom only wears the face of a man but is not one, and she doesn’t care about the male body he is in neither romantically nor sexually. She is canonically nblw with absolutely no attraction towards men whatsoever, which is by definition, a canon lesbian. Also, her gay undertones towards her sister-zoned best friend Leezie are so soft. If you love the Dunbroch family, you’ll love Bravely. Bravely basically offers everything you loved about Brave and adds a more mature and adult feeling to it whilst still feeling like your favorite Pixar characters.
What would make you want to read this fic?
It would be a crossover between Tangled, Brave, How To Train Your Dragon (1 & 2), and Frozen
Concept:
Immediately after the events of “Tangled” Rapunzel begins the process of outlawing the death penalty in Corona. (Sometime between believing Eugene was hanged, and then watching Mother Gothel fall to her death before she could get any real closure, Rapunzel started to think that maybe execution isn’t the most righteous way to handle crime.)
This means talking to all the criminals on death row and finding alternative punishments for them, including the Stabbington Brothers. She soon learns that “Patchy and Sideburns Stabbington” are not their real names (no surprise there) and that they would like to be sentenced in their native land of DunBroch. If only there was a member of Corona’s royal family who could arrange their extradition...
Of course, it’s only after they’ve left Corona that the Stabbington’s begin to tell the whole story- the story of a kingdom besieged by merciless dragon-riding vikings, and of the three young princes who set out to find help abroad. The story of the two remaining princes, returning empty-handed to a country that’s endured a decade of war.
What was meant to be an easy diplomatic mission sends Rapunzel and Eugene on a twisting road of curses and honor, with the fate of two warring nations at stake.
Would you read this story? What would make you more likely to read it? If it was already complete when you found it, if it was less than 20,000 words, if it was MORE than 20,000 words, if it focused heavily on a particular ship, if it focused heavily on action scenes, if it featured a lot of angst...?
The Wheels On The Bus || One-Shot
In which Harris sees a ghost... [takes place early October]

Everywhere Harris went in Swynlake, there were bloody ghosts.
According to Hades, his “mentor,” that had less to do with Swynlake and more to do with his magic signature– every bloody magick had one, and ghosts recognized a medium’s through the veil. When he asked how to suppress his magic signature, Hades told him it wouldn’t matter. He could hide it from the living, but never the dead. So what was the point in making a deal with a sorcerer or spending his allowance on an overpriced amulet? Harris simply accepted the fact: he was doomed. From now, until the day he kicked it himself.
But he could find refuge, briefly, in the Next Town Over. Yeah, there were ghosts. Yeah, a few ghosts even followed him. But their voices were quieter and they stayed back, more cautious of entering unfamiliar and heavily populated places. So his allowance went toward the bus fare, a too-expensive coffee in an overlit coffee chain– a far cry from Swynlake’s cutesy independently owned cafes– and a cheap combo meal at McDonald's. Sometimes, Harris used his free afternoons to walk around the mall. Sometimes, Harris just sat on that bus and stared out the window, feasting his eyes on the average lives of average people, who were happy to pretend a magic town wasn’t just one bus ride away. But his favourite place in all of the Next Town Over?
Waterstones.
