A bit late, considering the hiatus is ending soon, but I just need to praise the the picture on which we unpaying leeches were left for months. It's just so.... perfect! I didn't even mind having to wait, because I could just taste the next frame. I know who is yelling that. I even have some suspicions at who he's yelling at. I can guess how these two will react, I can guess how others will.

I can imagine it so clearly in my mind. Even if I'm wrong, the fantasy that this last picture paints was an absolute joy to have.

So Widdershins is a webcomic. I might say it’s the best webcomic. It’s certainly my favorite webcomic, and I’ve read a lot of those. I decided to do a redraw of one of its post recent panels because it’s such a momentous occasion, and the end of its ninth book.

So, with express permission from @katedrawscomics I have made this, my piece is on the left.

I’ve awoken my internal beast so if you want to hear my pitch for this comic, read under the cut:

So, Widdershins has an incredibly cool world and a really interesting magic system. It’s based around emotions being used as a way to effect people/objects/the world.

There’s a large cast that gets balanced incredibly well. It’s hard to emphasize how impressive I find this. Every character gets enough attention to be interesting and have depth without overshadowing other characters who need the spotlight. The relationships between these characters are really wonderful, engaging, and truly delightful. I just love all of them and love to see them with each other- There isn’t a single page in Widdershins where I was bored and wanted to hurry and get to the next scene.

So, along with that, the pacing is really fantastic. Each of the stories are contained in a way that makes them great to read, making you excited for the next part, but really satisfying and concluding an important arc. Some webcomics meander a bit, it’s a hard pitfall to avoid in comics that come out with weekly pages, but Widdershins skirts it deftly.

It’s got adventure, it’s got mystery, it’s got magic, it’s got some time period stuff I can’t remember cause my brain refuses to recall when any years are, but it doesn’t get in my way so it’s good.

My favorite character group is Ben, Wolfe, and Mal. Specifically Ben is my favorite character. But also, clearly, I love Harry and Sid, given I drew them. All of the characters are good. Read!
