Hi! I've just started reading your comic so apologies if this has come up before, but I was wondering about your choice of genders for the main protagonists? I noticed that the antagonists are fairly evenly spread, but the protagonists seem to be more on the male side of the gender spectrum. Is that on purpose, or did it just happen that way? Either way, I like how all the characters are their own people who don't conform to gender stereotypes!

I'll be honest, I'm not sure how to answer this one. I don't have, like. Charts.

I try to check myself regularly to make sure I'm not falling into unnecessarily gendered tropes when I can help it, which includes the whole Dudes As Default idea, but I don't have a quota I'm trying to meet. It's more like a quick "would this feel weird if I flipped it? might be Unnecessarily Gendered then" but that has a lot less to do with picking a gender for a character and more about picking my way around easy trope blind spots that often get BUNDLED with gender.

Sorry this isn't more helpful, I think this just isn't at all how I think about writing characters. I COULD do more mental math about it, but I don't really think it's hurting anybody if I don't.

As someone who Does do gender math when making characters (for stories, for D&D, even just looking at the ratios among my OCs) I really don't think it serves me lmao. Probably a symptom of a yet-to-be-defined anxiety disorder.

But...

Alright! October third. I would never forget October third!

So I drew some OCs and some Fullmetal Alchemist guys. My stuff is most everything on the right side, @violetcyclops did the art on the left! We both had an OC fun time on magma.

Alain, the one in pink whose hearts are plinking off of the purple man (Father from FMA) was originally a FMA OC I inserted into some RP blog sillyness. So I figured I'd draw him on FMA day.

Today I share with you: Leibodi! My gnome fighter in a D&D game I've been playing. I was trying to figure out her face shape so I can draw it consistently, and then I started giving her expressions.

She's mean <3 Well, mostly she's just rude and blunt. I love her. It's very fun to role play her.

Alright, day one. I would say today was a little warm up day.

I drew in my reverse coloring book to start, which is always a very fun time. I haven't done that in a while. It's basically lineless watercolor, sometimes in shapes that look like things (mostly flowers) or very abstract splotches. I like turning the flowers into non-flower things.

I also drew a beesona in my Drawfee art prompt book. It was fun

After that I did some straight line drawing practice, which maybe I should've done very first but y'know, who cares.

And then this evening I practiced drawing dogs cause I've had an idea for a weird dog-ish OC I wanna make but I am Not good at drawing a dog from my head. So practice must be done.

The whole time I tried to keep track of how I held my pencil and how I moved my arm and tried to make my grip nice and my wrist stationary. I need to do more hand exercises.

Hello Tumblr Dot Com. Specifically the folks following my silly little art blog.

I've decided I'm gonna do my own lil OCtober this year. Draw my OCs or something relating to them or design an OC or Whatever every day of October. They'll probably be a lot of doodles cause I haven't been regularly drawing for a while, and this feels like a nice way to get back into it. There will not be a plan or a theme or anything.

If I *do* end up not drawing for a day I'll post something from AF instead that day. Cause y'gotta make contingency plans for this month long stuff. Eventually I'll post all my 2024 AF stuff but since I wasn't doing it before, this feels like a good way to start ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Aaaaand some of it will be Spicy and I probably will only post like, Very cropped pictures for those ones. Cause there are so many fun month long art things in October but I can only do one thing at a time really.

So yeah. More art to come.

Alright, so I’m writing fanfiction now. This, I would say, is my first Real fanfiction. Cause it’s on Ao3, which as I know it, is the Real fanfiction place.

Centaurworld ending spoilers! Also it’s angsty. Further description under the cut:

It basically takes place At the ending, focusing on the woman and the elktaur. I was reading some fanfiction that basically went, “Okay, but what if she didn’t stab him!” and while I like the idea of them interacting more after elktaur’s re-fused together, I am very attached to her stabbing him. So I found and wrote a solution for myself.

I wanted to focus in on the woman’s perspective, everything she’s been carrying with her from memories of better times to immense soul-crushing guilt. I love her. Anyway.

Is it shippy? Will they kiss? I promise you I do not know. But they both have loved one another before and it shows. I would say they have yearning divorcee energy.
