Pic 1: "Philip N. Townsend 1907" He was born April 8, 1890 so he would have been 17 so this would be his graduation picture from Lebanon High School. He went to UNH for one term but got homesick and came home and never completed college. The collar he is wearing is detachable. He told me he and the other boys used to hold a football so they could kick it. Also, PNT was a good pitcher when he played baseball and once struck out a LHS team mate who later went on to play professional baseball. - Jean Pic 2: PNT and his school mates at Lebanon High School used their detachable collars like this one to hold footballs for kicking.
Pic 3: They now make football tees to hold footballs to practice kicking them. You can see how they resemble the detachable collars PNT & his high school classmates used to use.

Amos was Philip Townsend’s nephew, the son of Harry Townsend.
Thomas and Byron are two of Amos’s 8 children. Ryan is a grandson, Byron’s son.
