In the graveyard of St Michael’s Church in Monkton Combe, near Bath, lies the grave of Henry John “Harry” Patch, “the last fighting Tommy”. 🌹 Born in 1898, Patch died in 2008 aged 111. He was the last surviving veteran who had fought in the trenches of the Great War and the oldest man in Europe when he died. Harry's portrait is the first in a series of six commissions for the Not Forgotten Association. the series documents surviving  veterans from WW2 and WW1. Using archive interviews and photographs supplied by renowned portrait photographer, Giles Price I was able to contribute to the legacy of Harry Patch. Harry was112 years old when he died and was the last remaining veteran of the WW1.  "The Last Tommy". Music is written and performed by Thom Yorke in memory of Harry.
