Harry Warden hates Valentine's Day because of trauma, not because of a dislike of romance. He was actually very much a romantic before the cave-in and even afterward, during his institutionalized days, he still wanted to find somebody and the fact that he didn't have anyone he was really close to upset him at times. He wrote poetry during these years as a way of dealing with what troubled him, since the actual therapy he got was sub-par. He got pretty good at it near the end of his life, but since pretty much everyone was convinced he was subhuman, they were probably never seen by anyone but him and any few people he allowed to read them while he was alive.

In my selfship verse he's sometimes clingy with me because deep down, he's afraid of dying alone again. He tries very hard to be classically romantic with me because he's finally got the chance to treat a special someone the way he's always wanted.
