I stumbled upon a post on reddit that questioned how Katara and Sokka never seemed to remember that their Gran-Gran, and Pakku ended up together in the comics.
When in the series, they actually knew about it when the gaang minus Aang met the Order of the White Lotus near the Agrarian Zone, where Pakku tells them to call them grandfather.

Another reason why Bryke’s not ‘all that.’ True, they are the creators of atla. Bryke may have come up with the initial concept, but while it was a brilliant idea for a cartoon or show, they cannot take all the credit for its success. I have to give them credit for coming up with some ideas that worked and assembling a talented team to bring it to life, but it was the collaborative efforts of illustrators, writers, voice actors, soundtrack composers, and researchers that truly brought the atla universe to its full potential. Without their contributions, the show would not have taken off as well as it did. As mentioned before, if it were solely up to Bryke, Appa would have been a dog and Toph would have been a man.
Inconsistencies like this (and so many others btw) make me doubt of their abilities as ‘producers’, or ‘content creators’ on their own. Seriously, did they even bother to watch their own show? How is it that fans know more about the show than they do? I highly doubt they are even aware of the intricate metas that fans have crafted about every character in the series. It appears they simply throw in whatever they please without much thought. @araeph also shared a similar sentiment about the discrepancy in Zuko’s arc / plot / character. And their indecisiveness to keep Azula as a villain or have her own redemption even to this day.
Also, many fans felt that bryke didnt have to include a romantic subplot for a kid show but when they did, only Aang was allowed to have it. Yes because he’s the supposed ‘hero’ but damn all those that helped him in the process. Suki and Sokka you say? No confirmation in tlok. Toph? Forget about it. And as for Mai and Zuko? It’s unclear what happened to them. We don’t even know if Izumi is officially Mai’s daughter, and even if she is, what happened to Mai? Did she die giving birth since Zuko only has one child? There’s no information whatsoever. And don’t even get me started with what happened to Katara. We simply can’t say side characters hold no significance to the entire story. Particular gaps must be avoided to maintain the narrative.
And I feel like, if someone points out that it could or maybe should have been done differently for better story telling or plot coherence, they bail out of the project, or insist on telling the story ‘their way’ even if it doesn’t work. Which by the way, how is the comics going for them?
