midnight me feeling petty/prickly enough to voice out a particular my pet peeve of mine whenever i go into the tag for a cdrama: non-chinese fans referring to characters by their given name only when their given name is monosyllabic… it always makes me do full body cringe

i get that most of it has to do with supbar “official” eng sub that never translates chinese diminutive names etc properly so non-chinese fans don’t get to learn it’s a cultural taboo. but at the same time, a petty part of me is like longtime cdrama watchers should catch on by now between listening to the audio, reading the source novels, (light) research into chinese cultural norms regarding names, and/or through osmosis from posts by chinese disaspora fans (there were many during cql/shl era)

i don’t watch cdramas with eng sub so i keep forgetting how bad the sub is until i come across screenshots here and see ppl either missing a nuance or totally misunderstanding what a character said, and i have to facepalm (at the sub, not at ppl here)

i guess at the end of the day, it’s more me being upset at the quality of official sub and localization decisions than at fans

Before I joined Tumblr I was quite lonely with irls that I felt could barely contend with my chattering but on here I felt I could chatter all I wanted without worry. So thanks for the safe space :D. I never thought I’d be able to make online friends but here I am I guess :)

Thank you for motivating me to start writing fic, to start writing my novel again, to develop my ocs some more. Before I joined I was on a 4-5 month slump with no writing at all due to a lack of motivation.

thank you guys for introducing me to a lot of games I now really enjoy and probably wouldn’t have found without you guys. Such as the Arcana and the Ikemen games (if it wasn’t for Tumblr my irls probably wouldn’t have convinced me to play lmao).

Honestly Tumblr has changed me for the better. I love you guys /p. I may not be close to my actual family but you guys have became like a family to me. I’ve finally found a place I belong I suppose.

So,, I just got around to watch Season 4 yesterday and I had thought:

Y'all remember how Razz mentioned sometime in s3 that the whole portal shenanigans had happened before??

What if she's the one who closed the portal before??

We already know that whoever closes the portal doesn't necessarily die, they're just stuck somewhere in a dimension in between.

And who do we see constantly stuck in some sort of weird loop of past and present??

i have a bit that i could share … hehe.. ok so i realize for a ranchers!au i haven’t posted many snippets of them actually interacting.. please have faith 🙏 just for u anon, i shall post a wip soon!!! (if i forget please remind me..)

and to share my opinions: i have gone through every single emotion imaginable in the last 24 hours 😭💔 i said a lot on twitter so im copy-and-paste-ing a bit but;

im devastated of course (partially because id hate to see his season end so soon, and because he was genuinely trying) but i adore how stubborn he is with choosing to do the “right” thing, if that makes sense. it comes out very prominently in this session, with tango not wanting to take the “dirty” kills (via pvp, or continuing w someone after trying once already) and is very adamant about trapping. he never really wanted to kill his allies (which was unfortunate because. that didn’t leave many options). he also refused most of the help from others, despite MANY people being willing to lend him a hand (maybe to save their own ass but also because they care?). he was cautious, which kinda worked against him but seemed like he didn’t want collateral damage in the form of other deaths…

he genuinely tried and even though he failed, i think the episode highlights some of the best of tango. he’s a stubborn, but good guy, and he’s keeping his morals (maybe not his lives and his ego tho..) after this at least!!! he. is undeniably a pathetic boyfailure, which is why we love him, but he’s stubborn. i am holding out hope. i’m just praying there’s a way for him to get his lives back and that the red life won’t force him into isolation…
