Remember when the final arc in TR was still being released weekly and in the beginning of the three deities arc everyone was theorizing what sanzus whole deal was and why he was so important in the bonten timeline. So many people thought he was the new kisaki/ someone who at least had nefarious intentions when it came to mikey. Turns out he was just a childhood.friemd who was ride or die and it killed him on the inside to see mikey fall off the building in bonten probably the same way it killed him inside to see mikey fall down those stairs.
