During the 2nd performance talk show, Hashimoto Jun (Akaishi) wore the furinkazan tshirt and also promoted it during his departing speech.
But turns out it doesn’t stop there! Apparently after the performance ended, Hashimoto Jun went to the merch booth and promoted the furinkazan tshirt and was doing hand shakes/fist bumps with those who bought the tshirts.
He said, “I said a lot of weird things through out the series but Bandai still kindly produced a tshirt for me (Akaishi). So I have a responsibility (to help sell the tshirts.)” source
A twitter user who bought the tshirt said, “Thank you for raising Hyuga-kun.” to Hashimoto but he replied that “It’s by his own effort.” source
All the furinkazan tshirts have sold out!

The Sweet Hello The Sad Goodbye
A bittersweet ending to an amazing series. Probably one of the best romance J-Drama I’ve ever watched thus far. I mean, it’s not everyday you get to see a mermaid love story. Yes, you read it right, a mermaid! Satomi Ishihara plays a mermaid!
Anyway, everything else is equally amazing, from the characters, the stories, the sceneries, the songs. (Yeah, the theme song is stuck to my head that I might use the opening as my new ringtone.😆)
Nagisa Mio (Satomi Ishihara) is an oceanographer at Shibaura University of Marine Science and Technology Laboratory, who is very passionate about the marine life and loves everything about the sea.
Hasuda Rintaro (Ayano Go) is the second of the three sons of a wealthy family who runs their own company, Hasuda Trust. Rintaro put in charge of a coastal resort project, but he feared by employees due to his serious nature.
The two met when Mio’s Lab is selected to be the company’s consultant in ensuring an environmentally friendly resort. Mio wants to protect the marine life and opposes the resort’s development completely while Rintaro is staking his life on it. Despite starting off the wrong foot, they eventually became curious as to know why the other is so obsessed in wanting to do what each wanted to do, and discovering that they both had a past no one else knows about.
Rintaro and his family used to love the ocean so much until one day, his mother got swept away by the ocean current trying to get back the ball Rintaro accidentally threw off while playing with his brothers, while their father was away. Ever since the tragic incident, his elder brother, Kotaro who is currently contesting for the resort project with him, blames Rintaro for killing their mother.
Mio was found on unconscious on the beach on a stormy afternoon by the head of the University Lab, Kamoi Tadashi, whom took her in as his own daughter. Kamoi learns of who she really is and why she is here, and allowed her to work as a fellow marine researcher in his lab for a year, as that is the only amount of time she has to stop the development of the resort.
As Rintaro and Mio often cross path with each other over the course of the project development, they soon discover they each are not who they appears to be. Rintaro’s obsession with building the coastal resort is not only a way to bring the ocean closer to the ocean life but for him to fulfill his late mother’s love of the ocean, hoping it will bring him closer to her.
Rintaro later discovers some weird things surrounding Mio, regarding her fabricated past relating to her work experiences and academic qualifications, her odd behavior such as someone who could not stand the heat too much and has weak leg muscles that she has some difficulty walking if she spend too much time walking around under the sun which prompts him to find out more.
His suspicions is confirmed when he caught her attempting to return to the sea thinking that she wanted to commit suicide because of her exposure of her fabricated resume to the media but because she was madly in love with him, making her mind more human than before that she is unable to swim back and fainted, during which he noticed her legs are slowly transforming into a fish tail.
So from here on, it’s obvious that she can’t stay on land for too long or she’ll die. And so she has to return home to the sea after a year, during a full moon, with the right wind, the right currents, the right temperature, just like the night before she first appeared on land and was found by Kamoi on the beach. By this time, the two find it extremely difficult to part ways but had to in the end.
While Rintaro is unable to find her deep beneath the ocean, Mio promised him that she will visit him again one day. Watching how much he had changed since he met her and how much he loves and cares for her that he’s willing to let her go just breaks my heart. Rintaro quit his corporate job in the end and opened his own café by the beach, secretly hoping that she will return to him one day.
It’s a great story, and I love how the fellow researchers at the lab treat each other including Mio, like a family, accepting her for who she is even after knowing who she really is and loving her even more for her courage.
And I love how Rintaro finally got along with his elder brother Kotaro, thanks to the efforts of their youngest brother, Eitaro in bringing them closer together as Kotaro finally forgives Rintaro and loves him as a brother should.
It’s only nine episodes but it’s a definite must watch if you’re into romance drama. Despite the sad ending, overall it’s a heartwarming story about love, trust, forgiveness, acceptance, family and friendship.
