Osomatsu-san season 4, ep 9 thoughts. (Spoilers)
Finally got to watch the new episode. I must be honest with you guys: I am cursed to like whatever I watch, so if I don't like something, then it's probably not good. Why did I mention this?
.....Dunno cause I also liked this episode! (Hehe)
Let's start with the first skit. Did anyone else move along with it? I tried the shoulders thing while I was sitting down, but gave up. Maybe one day I'll seriously do it. (Probably not).
It was pretty decent. I know a lot of people can relate to feeling like death while following along with an exercise video. I never thought about it before, but it would make sense for Iyami to be like a noodle man, being able to keep up with the exercises. Especially if we take into account how much "exercise" he does when fighting off strays for food.
The next skit was even better, but this was due to less about the skit itself and more about.....
LOOK HOW CUTE JYUSHI IS AS A WITCH!!!!! JUST AHHHHHH!!
Choropi was cute too, but...girl, please fix your hair. It's not doing you any favors. (Watch people kill me for this. I'm sorry, but it's not doing it for me!) Maybe if it was longer?
I'm hoping this Choropi will start the Choromi fan stuff again.
So, I just noticed this: Jyushi went with the classic witch outfit, while Choro went with a magical girl look.
Choromatsu you freaking otaku lol.
Also, I always enjoy when the male VAs try to sound like women by making their voices a bit higher.
Now onto the ice cream bit....
Why don't people like it? I thought it was funny. Maybe because I kept thinking about how if this was one of those times where they treat the Matsunos as actors instead of characters, I'd imagine they ad-libbed the "you asshole" part. Like, maybe the brothers were mad at each other irl, so they did the skit to vent their anger out on the others. Like:
Todomatsu: YOU ASSHOLES!!
Staff member: Um, guys, that's not in the scri--
Director: No. Let them go. They're professionals.
((I know this is apparently based on some action movie--no, I don't know which one--but let me have my fun!))
Also, you notice how Karamatsu was the first one that kept noticing the ice cream was disappearing? I thought that was a clue that he was (somehow) taking bites when no one was looking, but then called it out so no one would get suspicious. Like you do in Among us when you're the imposter.
I was also hoping it was the dad (somehow), just so he would appear in the episode, BUT THEN BOTH PARENTS DID!!!! I'm so happy when they show up, but especially the dad since he barely gets screen time. I wanna learn more about him!!!
Honestly the right answer is they all probably took a bite of it. It was also funny to see the parents pull out their guns over ice cream, cause it's one of those moments like, "now we know where the sextuplets get it from."
I didn't feel like this was stretched out longer than it needed to be, like some others do, but that's just my opinion.
The singing was soooo good! I really hope though that they didn't tell the voice actors that they'd be singing mushrooms, so when the VAs watched the episode, they'd be like, "WAIT, I THOUGHT I WAS -insert brother- I DIDN'T KNOW I WAS A SINGING MUSHROOM! HAHAHA!" (Not Takahiro Sakurai though. He doesn't get to laugh)
I thought at the end of the first song, Chibita was gonna be like, "....Wellp, soup time!" and pluck them, but of course Chibita is too good of a man to do that.
I'm not gonna lie, guys. When I saw this:
My first thought was, "Stanford & Son parody?!" Like, that outside just looked like a junkyard to me!
....What are you looking at me like that for? I was raised by old people, so I know some old shows!
Anyway, this is another skit where I felt like a brother should have been switched.
I think Todomatsu should have been switched with Jyushimatsu. Maybe that would have been unfair, since Jyushimatsu was already in a skit, BUT HEAR ME OUT!
It should have been Jyushimatsu because aren't Osomatsu and him known as the idiot brothers? At least in the fandom. I think (I could be wrong) that opinion came with the ramen skit, where both of them wanted to eat ramen, but were so impatient that they almost couldn't wait the full 3 minutes, so they kept having to remind each other, "it's not done!"
So, having them in a skit called, "idiot brothers" WOULD HAVE BEEN PERFECT!!!
-sigh- Oh well. Miyu Irino did a good job. Also, I know the sweet parts were just to set up the punchline by having another character "ruin" the moment, BUT IT WAS STILL SO SWEET TO HAVE OSOMATSU BE LIKE, "you'll always be my little brother, and I'll always be your big brother!"
AND ALSO HAVE TOTOKO BE LIKE, "you're my treasure, Nyaa-chan. Don't let anyone make you unhappy!" AHHHH!
Now, Yuri isn't really a strong interest for me, but I do have some ships I like, and I think Totoko x Nyaa-chan is one. GUYS, THEY WERE SO CLOSE TO A YURI ENDING WITH THIS SKIT! "I don't wanna get married! I wanna stay with you forever!"
AHHHHH!! RUN AWAY WITH TOTOKO!!!!
I legit think that if Totoko were to marry any of the sextuplets (-cough- Osomatsu -cough-), she'd def say that to them to keep them in line.
"IF YOU DON'T GET YOUR LAZY BUTT OFF THE COUCH, I'M GOING TO CHOP YOU UP LIKE A FISH!"
AND THEY'D KNOW SHE'D DO IT!
Now, I'm the type of the person that when I watch something alone, I'm more likely to laugh on the inside, so when something makes me laugh out loud, it's pretty special. Which part made me laugh out loud?
NOT ONLY WAS I NOT EXPECTING HIM TO SHOW UP AGAIN, BUT LOOK AT THAT STUPID FACE! I actually said outloud, "HAHA! WHAT THE HECK!"
Now, I did feel like this part of the skit was a liiiiiittttllllleeee drawn out with the whole, "grab wife, get thrown, grab wife, get thrown," part, BUT that's ok. It didn't last too long, and it was at the end anyway, so it doesn't matter much.
All in all, my verdict for this episode is......
Is it my favorite episode of this season? No. Not by a long shot. Do I hate this episode, like some of the fans do? No. Not by a long shot.
It's just decent, and that's not a bad thing. It's fine to have decent episodes.
