indulgent question: what sort of symbols would be associated with a deified type madora that you mentioned and how would people remember her?
Wings/Feathers, definitely. She’s essentially a kinda mix between a valkyrie and Nike, and while the designs I’ve shown prob don’t incorporate it too much, when queen she has a lot of that sort of imagery (her crown has 4 wings on it, and her dark blood outfit has a side cape with a wing motif).
As for how people remember her...... do you mean how she would be remembered by the people posthumously or remembered as in worshiped?
For the first, Madora being deified is only possible in a good end where she becomes Queen of Nohr and ushers in a Golden Age..... Any timeline where she dies (aka any Hoshido timeline), she will not be deified. Then, of course, there’s the fact that she builds up somewhat of a heroic legend around herself even before she slays Anankos. Then of course her slaying of Anankos, basically a god, cements her reputation among the people. Her time as a ruler, and her ushering in of a Golden Age of peace overshadow her more fantastical exploits, making her well-known self as a ruler more mundane, while conversely elevating her time beforehand to a kind of legend that gets things added, changed, etc. with each retelling.
It’s also a headcanon of mine that I’ve had since the April trailer came out, that Nohr was a more secular country than Hoshido, and the religion they partook in was not the worship of a deity, per se, but the veneration of ancestors....... It’s a bit different than something like Chinese veneration of ancestors, however, in the sense that while yes, the deceased of anyone’s family could watch over them, those of the royal family were invoked as beings presiding over a concept that their rule embodied or what they were known for (this could be as big as life/death, or as small as gardening or somesuch).
Thus, when Madora dies, both the image of her of a good ruler, and the mythological elements of her youth mix together, and after death, gets associated with victory.
As for how people invoke her, she gives away most of her personal assets after death, so having one of her brooches, necklaces, etc. is a surefire way to invoke her. Thing associated with her dragon form, too, are seen as tokens to be invoked, and children who might happen upon a scale shaped rock might pick it up, quietly wishing for Madora to help them on their test at school.
I’m sure other, more significant pieces in her possession (wedding dress, etc) were given to museums, or other places for safekeeping, and people might visit there to gain her blessing if they didn’t have anything else.
Of course, just being on Nohrian soil or having Nohrian blood and invoking her name is supposed to be enough to call her for help ^^
