Good Smile US finally posted about the US tariff upcharges to their official Twitter. And I'm commiserating in the comments. ;o;
Gawd…Why did I have to splurge on those Guilty Gear plushies? THREE of them, in fact! ;O;!!!
I just HAD to preorder scale figure Dimitri, just for the off-chance that it might encourage GSC/Intelligent Systems to make a post-timeskip Claude too. I don't even like scale figures! They were overpriced to me, even before the tariffs! I just wanted FE3H post timeskip Nendoroids of Claude and Dimitri!!! ;O;!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also saying goodbye to any rereleases of Nendoroid Sakura Haruka. And any possible announcements for a Nendoroid Umemiya. ;-; And I'm skipping Pop Up Parade Hilda, after looking forward to her for so long. If design 3 gets chosen for Snow Miku 2026, I'll have to say goodbye to that too. I just basically have to give up on figure collecting now. ;_;
I still have a lot of figure photography projects to do. And I wanted to get into figure videography. And maybe this will finally force me to make more miniatures and actual dioramas… So I'm not completely out of the figure hobby.
But…anything new that releases---until the stupid orange turd's tariffs are gone---I just have to accept not buying them. Because, what am I going to do? Wait until impeachment and the end of a tariff war, to buy my wishlist backlog? Figure collecting revolves around preorders so much, because post-release prices skyrocket immediately! And that was before the tariffs! UGH. I'm so tired. ;_; My bank account will be literally spent after dealing with these tariffs. Maybe I won't have enough to continuing buying figures anyway. ;_; Maybe my dream of Nendoroid post timeskip Claude and Dimitri will finally be released, and I'll have to shell out $100 for each of them…only to no longer have the money. ;_; This may be the end of my figure collecting. ;_________________;
EDIT 1:44 PM 4/24/2025:
Just found out preorder cancellations might be allowed. Let me look into this…
EDIT 1:50 PM 4/24/2025:
Ok. This looks like a different message from the GSC Bluesky announcement from the other day. I think I skimmed that one and it didn't mention anything about preorder cancellations; just higher prices because of the tariffs.
But this announcement from GSC US does mention delays, tariffs, and allowed preorder cancellations. I actually like this announcement. Because with how often things keep changing (because of the delusional whims of a certain unstable narcissist), if a figure release is far enough into the future, it could avoid tariffs, for all we know. And delays will really help those chances. I would like to keep my preorders, as much as possible. On the other hand, there are some preorders I would like to cancel, if the tariffs are still in effect. And this announcement looks like if that happens, THEN we will be given the option to cancel a preorder. I'll just have to keep an eye on my email…which I'm EXTREMELY bad at. But still, these are good options.
Thank you for your continued support of the Good Smile Company Online Store.

God fucking damn that rotten orange wannabe.
This is it. This is the end of my figure collecting. I'm already screwed by the preorders I placed months ago. Good Smile doesn't allow preorder cancellations, and honestly…I don't think I would want to cancel my preorders---at least, not all of them.
I would cancel all 3 of my Guilty Gear plushie preorders. I know I preordered them, because I regretted passing up Sol and Ky's plushies during their first release. But since then, Sol and Ky still haven't gotten any Nendoroids. It was clear to me now that those plushies would be the closest I would get---to momentoes of my fandom? That can't be right. Because I already have figures for Sol and Ky. They're not very pretty. And Ky's are just cheap trading figures. But they're still good momentoes. I could have save money by not preordering those plushies. But noooooooooooooo.... (sigh) They were cheap when I preordered them. Cheap enough that I splurged on Queen Dizzy's plushie too. Augh. 145% tariffs??? Now these $33 plushies are $80.85 each! And that's before taxes AND shipping! And I preordered THREE of them! Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
I've already given up on Pop Up Parade Hilda Valentine Goneril. They finally release another Golden Deer figure, and I have to skip her. x_x I shouldn't feel bad, because she's not even a Nendoroid. She's not even a post timeskip version! But I wanted to support the Golden Deer.
The worst part is that Dimitri scale figure I preordered. I was already stretching to my limits to pay for his pre-tariff price of $203. And now I'll just have to eat this post-tariff price. Which will now be $497.35, BEFORE tax and shipping! I DON'T NEED SCALE FIGURES!!! ;O; I'm not one of those figure collecting snobs who won't accept anything less than "scale figure" quality! I don't even care about support bases! I'm fine with $10 prize figures! I have some nice trading figures and gachapon! And honestly, I only really want Nendoroids. It's been only 6 years since FE3H released, and without any FE3H Nendoroids by now, I've had to accept that it would be un-articulated figures or nothing. So I bought Pop Up Parade Claude and Dimitri. I was planning to get Hilda. I thought, maybe if I supported the very first post-timeskip FE3H figure (AND was my second favorite character), maybe then my beloved Claude could get a post-timeskip figure. Maybe if they both sold well, maybe then we'd get those FE3H Nendoroids after all. That's usually how things work with GSC. But now I'm stuck spending so much more than I can afford.
I mean, I have the money for all this. Even after the tariffs, and taxes, and shipping. But it's SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much more than I was expecting to spend. I was supposed to switch bank accounts and repay my sibling. Now I'll just barely keep the account minimum I'll need for that new bank account I was planning to switch to.
I had already given up on buying/playing videogames. Maybe figure collecting will fall to the wayside for me too. ;___;
I had really hoped that I could keep collecting, if I just kept closer to my rule of not buying figures of characters I didn't know or who weren't my obsessive favorites. But now, I'm beginning to think that if a Nendoroid Umemiya got announced, I'd have to pass him up. If Nendoroid Haruka Sakura got a rerelease, I might have to pass him up too. If Jayce or human-Viktor Pop Up Parades got announced, I might have to hold out for them getting Nendoroids. At this point, the only plausible figures I could see myself still buying, would be if Nendoroid Ryouga Hibiki got announced. I pray that he gets announced much later, so late that his preorder ships when the orange turd is out of office and maybe these tariffs can go away. Maybe if I'm really lucky, he can go away before August, when scale figure post timeskip Dimitri releases. But I'm preparing myself for eating these tariff costs.
At this point, I'm kind of beginning to hope my choice for Snow Miku 2026 doesn't get chosen. I'm beginning to hope Jayce and Viktor don't get Nendoroids or human Pop Up Parades. I'm almost hoping a Nendoroid Ryouga Hibiki doesn't get announced. And the same for a Umemiya Nendoroid. ...Even though I wanted figures for all these characters.
I'm glad I didn't splurge on Pop Up Parade SP Arsene. I'm glad I refrained from Pop Up Parade Nutcracker Witch. I'm glad I didn't preorder Nendoroid Utena, or Pop Up Parade Byleth, or splurge on random Nendoroid Basics.
No more spending money for me. No more hoping for more favorite characters to get figures. No more videogames. No more new art supplies. I really have to penny pinch now, just to eat the tariffs for my preorders made before the tariffs.
This might be the end of my figure collecting. ;_; ---But if Ryouga, JayVik, or Claude get figures, I'll have to reconsider, but only for their cases. Anyone else besides them, and I'll have to really avoid buying.
