Previously in the Lake story: Highschool sweet-hearts Benni and Jay fall in love, marry, and pop out four kids: Geoff, Beth, Henry, and Jamie. Geoff is excitable, but not always outwardly, and a big goof, Beth is the grumpiest cheekbone queen of all, Henry is a bit of a hot jock-jerk, and Jamie is the sweetest little pink-haired boy that ever lived. Their dogs Maisy and Walnut graced the Lakes with two awesome pups before tragically passing from old age.
And now for some big boy changes!
Since 75% of their children were grown, and two of them would not leave, Benni and Jay decided it was time to move to a smaller, quieter area. And so the family moved to Twinbrook! The happy couple and their youngest bought a nice, modern house with plenty of deck space way out on the outskirts of town, thinking it would be a lovely place to enjoy their retirement (when Jay got around to it, that is!) while still close enough to town for Jamie to get to school.
It was, however, a two bedroom house. It was time to fly from the nest for our two blonde boyos.
Given that the boys didn’t really have jobs of their own, unless you count self employed fisherman, they were forced to move to the more “character” filled part of Twinbrook. Luckily, Beth lived just down the road, so maybe it wasn’t so bad.
Their beautiful new house. It is full of character.
There was definitely some time needed for adjustment after living in a 4 bedroom, 3 full bathroom house with a built-in garage and quality laundry facilities…
Geoffrey: I can’t remember my last tetanus shot…
The dogs, however, were happy as pie.
Well, one of the dogs.
Penuche: Can we go home now?
Henry seemed to have the most trouble adjusting to the lack of Homecooked Meals by Jay.
Henry: I sure wish we had a sandwich plant…
Penny went out to meet the new neighbors.
Penuche: WHAT IS THAT OUTFIT YOU LIVE IN A SWAMP I AM SO CONFUSED.
Moose went digging for treasure.
Geoffrey: I guess it’s… nice… *mumbles* It definitely fits into the décor…
Moose took that as encouragement, and promptly continued bringing Geoff Awesome Things.
Geoffrey: Oh hey thanks buddy!
Moose: If anyone tries to take this from you I will MURDER THEM.
Possibly out of fear, the newspaper stayed in that exact spot for about a week.
Geoffrey: We should play darts!
Geoffrey: Henrycanweplaydartsplease.
It was soon learned that Geoffrey really sucked at darts.
Henry: You… *snerk*… you are so bad at this!!
Henry, on the other hand, was really, really good.
It was time for some sabotage tactics.
Geoff: F IS FOR FRIENDS WHO DO STUFF TOGETHER…
Henry: Goddamn I will not let you distract me…
Henry: Ugh… seriously? His singing worked?
Geoff: Huh huh huh huh.
Overall, life in the swamp was starting to feel more normal for our two boys.
Sleeping in…
Gardening…
Visiting Beth…
Henry: Paper Girl please stop following us…
Henry: Oh hey there she is not wearing pants.
Geoff: Maybe we should go visit Mom and Dad instead…
Cooking…
Henry: Moneeey! It’s a drag…
Hating firehydrants…
The only one who didn’t seem to approve of their new lifestyle was Bethany.
Beth: Ugh…
Beth: How can you guys live in such a hole?!
Henry: What?
Henry: We live in a hole?
And so it was time for a house makeover.
Before:
After:
Henry was making loads of friends at his SPORTSJOBYEAHSPORTSWOO and yet Geoff just sat at home with the dogs, going out every so often to fish and visit his family.
Jamie: So I was using the computer, and the motherboard started sparking, so I poked it…
Totally normal family interaction here you guys.
He’d been to a bar before, but rather than make friends, he just went into the back room, where he played with the hookah. Er… Bubble Maker.
Lucy Fern: Stupid young people lookin at bubbles…
Geoffrey: HUH HUH HUH HUH HUH!!!
It was soon decided that Geoffrey needed to get out more! And so he met Henry at the Red Rendezvous after work to meet his brother’s friends.
And thus he met Justin Kayes (EA…) who I’d made over a bit. Because he looked like a cartoon character. (Admittedly an adorable cartoon character, though!)
Justin: If only if only there were a hotdog right now that I could eat! Hot dogs are the best!
Geoffrey: Whoa I love hotdogs too!
And then, everyone, Justin made this face at Geoffrey.
BEST FRIIIEEEENDS!!
Meanwhile, Lang Gwydd (EA….) wore no shoes and stared creepily at everything they did.
Geoff: I get this weird feeling that this could be important later…
BONUS: Family Picture Wall!
Jamie: Man, remember last time we hung out and I was covered in soot after being singed in a fire? That stuff’s crazy. I never thought fire could start so quickly.
Geoff: Uh I have never have that problem.
BUT LATER THAT WEEK.
Geoffrey: I have this feeling that I spoke too soon, Pen.
Geoffrey: Maybe I can convince Henry to let us get a new fridge too!
And so Henry bought a new stove and refrigerator.
Henry: Hey man, waffles for everyone?
Geoff: Waffles for Geoff!
Henry did not like this. Henry wanted waffles.
Rather than point out that he was the one that bought a new stove and fridge, Henry made sure to work out in Geoff’s Personal Space. Autonomously.
So Geoff made extra waffles.
*COUGH* OH SORRY GUYS DIDN’T KNOW YOU WERE STILL HERE.
Henry: You need to cut it out with all this working out in my personal space. I don’t think anyone likes watching you work out.
Oh Geoff you’re so cute.
Hate Horse: UGH I HATE THAT GUY.
And I’ll just leave this here.
The next weekend, Geoff invited Justin over.
And what’s that, Justin?
Yaaaay!
And then Geoff heard a horrible thing:
Justin was dating Lang Gwydd.
Seriously? That dude wears a du-rag and a suit to a bar. Barefoot. BAREFOOT.
Suddenly that moment from before came flooding into his mind!
Geoff: I get this weird feeling that this could be important later…
And so Geoff swallowed his sorrow with fishing and then ice cream for dinner.
Geoff: *pout*
The next morning, Geoff decided that Justin seemed to like him and sometimes flirted back, so maybe that was a good sign! At least this guy hadn’t lied about who he was dating!
That had to be an improvement over Connor!
So he made waffles for breakfast.
And played with his buddy.
Geoff: And I was thinking, Justin and I get along, and I’ve got to be a better catch than Lang Gwydd. I mean, he goes barefoot to dive bars.
Penuche: Dude, anyone is a better catch than Lang Gwydd.
Penuche: …and did you say barefoot in a dive bar?!
Geoff, being more of an optimist, invited Grumpy 1 and Grumpy 2 to the lounge for a nice night out
Sadly, they showed up like this…
Really guys? Really? I know Henry got those pants from Geoff’s clothes drawer, but seriously? He wears those while fishing and gardening man! He gets his clothes from the second hand shop!
And despite being the money maker in the family, Henry is a cheapskate and eats a potato on the dance floor.
Guy: He’s gonna do it… He’s gonna eat that potato!
