Historic buildings like the Hauptwache, the famous city hall 'Römer' near the reconstructed old town, the breathtaking skyline with dazzling skyscrapers, the stock market or modern shopping malls like the MyZeil are just a few examples for worth seeing places.

Hauptwache, que en alemán significa 'Guardia Principal', es hoy una de las plazas más importantes de Fráncfort del Meno. Su nombre original, Schillerplatz fue sustituido a comienzos del siglo XIX. El edificio barroco que da nombre a la plaza, y que se muestra en las primeras imágenes, fue construido en 1730, y era la sede de la milicia Stadtwehr y albergaba, además del recinto policial, una prisión; y desde 1904 es una popular cafetería. Después de su reconstrucción, por los daños sufridos durante la guerra, en 1967, a causa de la construcción del metro, el edificio fue desmantelado para que pudiera ser trasladado y reconstruido por encima de la nueva estación subterránea del U-Bahn, nombre del metro en alemán. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ... Hauptwache, which means 'Main Guard' in German, is today one of the most important squares in Frankfurt am Main. Its original name, Schillerplatz, was replaced at the beginning of the 19th century. The Struwwelpeter fountain on the Hauptwache in Frankfurt. Struwwelpeter (Shock-headed Peter in English) is a 1845 childrens book written by the Frankfurt psychatrist Heinrich Hoffmann. It basically tells children that if they fuck around, they will find out. If you don´t eat your soup you will starve to death, if you play with matches you will burn to death. If you suck your thumbs, a crazy tailor will come and cut your thumbs off. If you make fun of a black person, giant St. Nicolas will come and dunk you in a giant inkwell. Needles to say, it is one of Germanys favorite childrens book.
