His relationship with Lily was the first relationship he really considered serious. After it ended, he didn’t think he would be in another so quickly. He really did want a break.

To try and make what he thought was a romantic gesture, he gave Lily a bouquet of lilies on one of their first dates. Which was when he found out she didn’t like flowers.

The first day that Adam spoke to Sara, he kept talking to her until she paid some attention to him. Frankly, he was annoying. She finally agreed to talk to him. Mainly because he wouldn’t shut up.

It was the differences he noticed most between Sara and Lily. He liked that she didn’t need to have to comment on everything. She said what needed to be said, and he always listened. Unlike with Lily.

He never understood why Lily was so committed to him. Yes, he did like her, and, at one point, he maybe even loved her. But he never had thought much of what would have happened after high school. It was so foreign. Until he realized how much he liked Sara.

He is scared to talk to Sara now. He doesn’t want to find out that she has moved on, or something similar.
