38. I hope you can untie me when we’re done.
[[PFFFFFT OH Crystals this is glorious, mwahahahaha xD]]
He had promised her. He had promised that for their anniversary, they could try out anything she wanted and he’d agree to it. He had promised that. And he really tried. But he still couldn’t help being a bit… worried…
“Uhm… Melinoe… I’m… I’m sure you know what you are doing but… uhm… well… I hope you can untie me when we’re done... These knots look rather… strong and difficult to open…”
Oh my.

26. This is so wrong.
[[…why, rng, why? Why do you even make me do this by giving me such cruel ideas? q.q]]
He knew fully well that it was wrong. That he should never have allowed for it to happen. That he should have remained strong and adamant. That he should have stopped this before it was too late.
But now it was too late. Way too late.
What he had done could never be undone again.
Just how had it happened, how could it have come to this?
He hadn’t given it much thought when Edea had come up to him after a particularly intensive training lesson and asked if she’d be allowed to stay at the training hall and rest before heading home. And it was very much true that he had allowed her to use his bath instead of the showers in the hall for it’d be more comfortable for her.
What he had not anticipated though was that she would suddenly come out of the bath, dressed in nothing but a towel and approach him so aggressively. To think that she would push him against a wall dressed as lightly as this… and even drag his head down so she could force her lips onto his - She, the daughter of his closest friend and his old love! She who was like a daughter to him!
How desperate she had been… how she had begun to speak of her desire for him, how she admired him and wanted him to look at her and only her. And how she wanted for him to see all of her…
If only he had been a stronger man…
Then he wouldn’t have to sit on the edge of his bed now, with the still asleep young woman lying behind him, tired out from her first experiences with intimacy of this kind, and silently mutter just four words…
“This is so wrong.”

25. You’re tempting me.
[[WHY? WHY YOU TORTURE ME LIKE THIS? At least the RNG was kind to me and gave me something I can easily work with…]]
Dirty? Oh yes, that it was indeed. But not dirty play on his part, oh no. It was this money that was dirty.
“So you try to bribe me now that your ungodly schemes have been uncovered and reported to me? Shame on you, Erutus Profiteur, shame on you.”
The blade that was held against the throat of the merchant was turned so that the edge would inch a bit closer yet to the skin - a clear demonstration on who was in charge here.
“Your methods were always suspect to me, ever since you were brought in to fund the mercenaries for the attack on the duchy… We should have never trusted you in the first place. I won’t make that mistake agai-”
From the corner of his eye the commander of the Black Blades catches sight of the Merchant trying to reach into his pocket - an attempt easily stopped by pushing the blade a bit closer still, causing it to draw blood already, even if just a little.
“You’re tempting me, Merchant of Death… I already have to hold back so I don’t just cut you down. You don’t want to tempt me by moving a second time… You might not live to regret the mistake of doing so…”
Braev felt the tip of the blade on his chest as Nobutsuna gave him a slight smirk. “That is merely one point for you my friend but you’ll have to repeat that several more times before you win the round. Now, let us continue and don’t allow that one point to go to your head. We are both tied in scores are we not?” Braev then stepped back and readied his sword to star the next round.
Send me € for my muse’s reaction to getting to get stabbed by yours.

It felt as if she were stabbed in the heart.
Yes, that was exactly what she felt now. And yet, there were neither blood nor scars to prove her pain.
"Nobutsuna, I-"
"I do not want your explanation."
He stared down at her with cold eyes. He had found out that she had once accepted a hit out on him. The Blades had found reports and paperwork by the far less careful Shieldbearer officer that undoubtedly proved her original intent.
When she had come over to see him that night, he stopped her at his door, proof in hand. He let her know she was no longer welcome there.
"That may have been true then, but I could never-"
"Leave, Melinoe. Do not come back here again."
"Please, you have to underst-"
This time, she was cut off not by his words, but by his gaze. The look in his eyes would be hard to pinpoint by anyone unused to seeing that look. But to her, it was as clear as day: absolute disgust.
Without another word, he stepped back and closed his door, no longer waiting for her took take her leave. He could no longer bear to look at her anymore.
Slowly, tears began flowing freely from the foolish Lich’s eyes, as she grabbed her chest and sunk to the ground. There were no words she could say to a man who would no longer listen.
[[… you’re so evil. You one upped my worst expectation and broke several hearts. You are truly awesome. Yes you are.]]
[[…but that doesn’t mean I can’t make it even more sad *muahahaha*]]
it felt as if he had been stabbed in the heart.
Playing the cold hearted soldier like this had never been harder than tonight. The entire day had been horrible, really.
When Konoe had brought him these papers this morning after the routine reconnaissance mission he sent her onto last night, he had already been able to tell from her frown that things were deeply amiss. And once he had seen them, he also knew why.
Melinoe had been hired to kill him.
He should have suspected as much back when she showed up out of the blue at the hall that day. It had been foolish to believe her when she told him she had come to meet the master Edea spoke of so fondly. After all, one did not go to visit the teacher of a friend like that either. But it had flattered him and so he had quickly dismissed any worries and doubts. And now this.
He refused to believe it at first, but it all made sense. Why she showed up, why she invited him to go eat, why she coaxed him into placing his Asterisk onto the table, the whole evening made sense in that new light. Except for one thing.
She did not once move to harm him. No, instead she even looked after him, was concerned about his reputation in the Black Blades and allowed him to let his guard down around here by lowering hers as well. Never once had there been any intent to harm him, let alone kill him.
It only made sense if she… - Oh, he would have been so happy to hear her say it, hear her confirm his theory. He would have gladly told her it was mutual, but alas… It was no longer possible. Not now that he knew she was out to kill him.
He refused to believe it, he refused it in it’s entirety. But the proof was there, and he could not dispute it. So he tried his best to reason with Kikyo to prevent her from going after Melinoe. He knew her well enough to know that she would not hesitate to kill anyone that threatened his life.
But he could not have beared that, being responsible for ending Melinoe’s life. So he had tried desperately to convince her to let him take care of the matter. And after a long argument, he had ultimately prevailed - and thus maneuvered himself into the hardest situation he’d ever had to face.
Facing her and pretending to completely disgust her had been so hard to bear, he would not have been able to withstand his guilt over having to do this for a single second longer. No matter how much he longed to hear her explain herself, hear her speak the truth, he could not allow himself to. He would not have been able to do what he had to if he did.
And now he could hear her crying in front of his door, while he stood behind it. And it was breaking his heart even more than it already had been… To know that this was the last time he’d see her, the last time he would hear her voice… - He knew of no greater torture, no greater pain.
It came as no surprise that behind the door, the man was before long crying his heart out as well.
“ € - eternianblade [[You knew this would happen. Also: Hiii~]] ” — burmecianblackmage
The fool, Kamiizumi! He was so soft… soft as spongecake; how did he expect to win a war if he wasn’t willing to fight with all he had? Now, the two stood facing each other,
"You disobeyed my orders, and now you shall face the consequences," The tall man spoke, his voice was calm and collected, yet it bore some regret.
"If you think there’s a way to end this peacefully, you’re wrong!" The salve maker spat at Kamiizumi’s feet, and from behind his back pulled a pair of tongs… on the end sat something that glowed a menacing green, "There’s no way in Hell I’m dying by your hand!” Not allowing his foe to speak, Qada charged him and ungracefully slammed the metal tongs into his blade. As the fat man pressed harder on Kamiizumi’s blade, the chemical sat dangerously close to the man’s face.
"You’ve made a grave mistake."
A fountain of blood sprayed the smooth, stone walls as a dagger hit its mark in Qada’s chest. A horrified scream plagued the dark room, and then the fat man’s body fell limply to the floor.
[[Reblogging for Keeping. And also because well written and almost canon xD]]

[[Btw, I was remarking how this was inevitable to come in, wasn’t it? And how in a way, the prompt I sent you already had Kamiizumi stabbed and the song prompt that got us playing in the first play also ended with Melly pulling the dagger. BUT FEAR NOT! This one will make it all better :3]]
He felt sorry when the blood hit Melinoe’s brown hair.
In a moment when the swordmaster shouldn’t have cared about anything anymore or anyone, he felt guilty for dirtying the beautiful woman in front of him.
The woman that had just stabbed him in the chest and pierced his lungs.
Truly, he was a man beyond saving. But so was she.
The tears in her eyes had given her away. The tears she spilled when she drew her dagger from her pouch and charged at him with it. The heavy tears she cried, driven into a corner like this and left with no choice. The same kind of tears that she had cried on that day, several months ago.
Said day, when Kikyo Konoe had found these papers that proved her involvement with a Shieldbearer plot to take his life. That day, when he had been forced to break both their hearts, in order to protect her life. For he knew Kikyo would always place his life above that of the Necromancer, no matter how much it pained her.
He had to let her go on that night, had to drive her away and destroy any chance at happiness that they had shared, destined to never see her again.
And then, not even two months ago, they had met again.
Some would have said that it was a chance meeting, that it had been a happy coincidence for the two to run into each other again, maybe even fate. But they both knew it wasn’t so. They knew in their hearts that it was not luck or a higher power that had lead them back together. For after all, they both had not for on minute stopped to long after each other. They knew that it was their actions alone that had enabled this “chance meeting”.
It had been quickly explained what had happened that night all those months ago, and before soon they found themselves in each others arms again.
They had been meeting in secret ever since, and today had been another of those joyful evenings that they could see each other again. A nice dinner in a small restaurant where none of the Black Blades would see them accidentally, followed by a nice walk in the evening air - it could have been so perfect.
But then they had to run into a Shieldbearer patrol led by exactly the false officer.
Most patrols didn’t recognise the swordmaster when he wore different, casual clothing and was not armed with his katana, and Melinoe was not on their Most Wanted list, so coming to Hartschild to eat didn’t pose as great a risk as one would fear. But this officer was different. He knew the swordmaster’s face and he also knew Melinoe - for he was the one that had hired her to kill him.
Had he been armed, Nobotsuna Kamiizumi would have easily been able to handle this small amount of enemies. But with neither his sword nor a dagger, he was simply outmatched. And Melinoe seemed intimidated as well by the number of opponents… - Whether she’d have been able to fend them off and protect him was doubtful. Especially since it was not out of the question that they would call backup.
So he had told her that she should do what she must in order to survive. That he would rather die by her hands than see her brought to harm. That he loved her more than his own life and would not be able to bear it should she be killed here, because she was with him.
He loved her… - It was depressing to think that now, in this situation, was the first time he managed to say these words to her…
Melinoe had not been able to hold the tears back, but she knew she was without another choice. Even though she pleaded for him to find another way. But they lacked the time and the possibilities to do so. Ah yes, time… If only they’d have had more time together…
It is just as she makes up her mind to fulfill the heart-wrenching deed that the man does what he should have done ages ago, and properly speaks the words she must have been longing to hear from his lips all along:
"I love you, Melinoe."
They will be the last words he’ll speak, for the dagger then pierces his chest and with it, his lungs. Bereft of his breath, all he can still muster is to gurgle up blood - and hold her in his arms a one last time, before he then closes his eyes for the last time and collapses.
Death’s embrace shall welcome him now, and he shall face the reaper with a smile.
~~~~
When Nobotsuna Kamiizumi next opened his eyes, he could not comprehend how this was possible, how in the name of the crystals he could have escaped death’s cold grip. But he would not complain.
For the first thing he sees when he opens his eyes again is his dear beloved Melinoe.
——
[[Okay, I’m on a roll here, and I hope you’ll not be too mad at me for going ahead like this and writting a part from Melly’s view here, but… I just have to xD Sorry :3]]
Melinoe was crying bitter tears when the man sunk to the ground before her, his arms still trying to hold her. He had just told her he loved her, and she… she had to kill him, end his life. Before she had a chance to tell him she felt the same.
It wasn’t fair.
It wasn’t fair that he had to give his life to save hers, no, it shouldn’t have come to this, it-
"Well done, Missy! You fulfilled your role splendidly in the end! Now boys - Seize her! Kill her so we can take both of their asterisks for us!"
The tears instantly stopped flowing from her eyes and were replaced by an expression of pure horror. They intended to kill her now? But then Nobotsuna’s sacrifice… - No.
No, she’d not let his sacrifice have been in vain. No. She refused to accept this.
The evil glow in her eyes when she turned from the lifeless body of the swordmaster in order to face the approaching shieldbearers let the blood in their veins freeze.
The entire patrol was found dead and mutilated beyond recognition.
~~~~
It was difficult for Melinoe to carry her love’s dead body out of Hartschild, given how much taller he was. But she refused to just leave him behind, refused to let go of him. She refused to just give him up like this.
And so, driven by her pain and her sorrow, Melinoe Macaria attempted the only thing she believed could bring her beloved back: Turning him into her immortal kin…

He should have known.
He should have known right from the start that this man was not to be trusted.
He should have listened to the uneasy feeling he had back when he first met this strange little man 15 years ago, during the preparations for the war to overthrow the duchy.
Had they not desperately needed the money in order to fund said war, he’d have tried to persuade Braev to not get involved with this shady man. But they had needed the money… Unfortunately.
And now he was looking at a blade, hidden in a cane, that pierced his abdomen.
Profiteur had tried to get rid of him. Because he had found out about the water conspiracy during a visit here to meet his old comrade Ciggma Khint.
"Curse you… Merchant of Death… But you will not… continue your schemes… I’ll… make sure… of that…"
With the last remainder of his strength, Nobotsuna Kamiizumi drew his blade and slew Erutus Profiteur.

25. Seeing a new movie
Kamiizumi wasn’t exactly fond of going to the movies - he much prefered books to films. Most likely because the pictures never came close to what his own imagination had drawn from the printed words, and because they left out too many of the small details that made a good book excellent.
But then again, he couldn’t deny one of his best students a request like this. Even if he knew already the book he had read would not be paid justice by this movie…

14. Holiday Shopping
The swordmaster sighed when the proprietress asked him to help her out with the holiday shopping. Knowing her, she intended to procure something for every last inhabitant of the shipstate, and there was almost certainly also a recipe and a plan for a feast in her pockets. This would certainly be quite a chore… but well…
"I suppose I can give you a hand if you need me to. When were you intending to go?"
She had helped him out a great deal in the past… So he owed her at least this much.
"Thank you kindly, lad. It’s an occasion I just can’t miss." Proprietress led the man down some of the strangest alleyways to get to her destination, which seemed to always grow farther and farther away. She didn’t tell him where they were going, her lips always chattering about this-n-that. It was just important that he come with her. Near a dumpster, a flock of young knaves jumped out, blocking the path! They held daggers in both hands, smirks chipped out on their rough faces.
"So Miss…" he paused, looking pointedly at her apron, "empty out those pockets and hand over the goods!"
Kamiizumi had been following a few steps behind the elder lady, careful not to fall behind. Not that this was a particularly difficult task, given how she wasn’t walking as fast as he usually was. So when she suddenly stops due to a certain flock of obstacles.
With steady step, he went to position himself in front of her, turning himself slightly so as to show off the blade he carried at his side.
"Would you care to repeat your words again, lad?"
The calm voice of the swordmaster spoke of his confidence - and that made it sound quite intimidating.
The old woman was glad of her forethought in bringing the master swordsman along. The slums of Florem were dangerous, but it was worth it to get the novelty items she would gift all her Heros on board. After Kamiizumi’s intense stare, the petty bandits let them alone. She was already going to thank the man, regardless, with a gift, but now she was sure to remind herself to do so.
Just around another bend were the shop stalls she was looking for. “Thank you, fellow. I’ll be good now, if you wan’t to tie off your own ropes now.”
Well, that was easy enough. He was glad to see that even in parts of the world where he wasn’t as renowned, he still could intimidate lowlifes. Maybe because he knew how their minds worked from his time on the streets…
When they reached the stalls and the Proprietress told him he could leave, Kamiizumi politely declined.
"It would be better if I accompanied you on the way back as well. I can imagine these bandits to be quite displeased and angered about how things went just now…"
If they saw her walk back alone, they might just end up taking their frustration out on her. So it was better if he stuck around for now.
