STORY
"I take on the mantle of cunning. Only the doomed fight fair."
"I take on the mantle of joy. To despair is to admit you've already lost."
"I take on the mantle of flame. Its glow can inspire, unite, and ignite."
Such were the words spoken by Havedas, an oath witnessed by Akdarr, Lord of Fangs, Keeper of the Scales, Relentless Pursuer.
Havedas is a man of murky origins, especially due to his habit of crafting intricate stories built entirely off of blatant lies whenever he’s asked any question that he deems as too prying.
What is known is that he is one of the few who grew up within the Seraph's Errant instead of joining the order as an adult, mostly due to the sponsorship of the legendary paragon Verdowyn Stomat, who took him under her wing after finding the preteen acting as the main attraction of a now forcibly shut down roadside freakshow.
Despite being offered multiple chances to pick a different, less dangerous path in life, Havedas chose not only to properly, officially join the Seraphs Errant, he also chose to become a paragon, following in the footsteps of his adoptive mother by swearing his mantles before the god Akdarr.
PERSONALITY:
Havedas presents himself as an audacious loudmouth with little to no understanding of social decorum, but behind this act lies a surprisingly introspective, calculating person. He is kinder than his shadier methods would suggest, and has a strong belief that “Freaks should look out for other freaks.”
FUN FACTS:
He and Savwren are workout buddies.
Havedas collects clown figurines.
He has a talent for music and plays multiple instruments. His favorite is the violin, his second favorite is the guitar.
Multiple members of the Seraphs Errant have a crush on him. He pretends not to notice.
Majaaras and Havedas frequently argue about music and trash each other's taste. Despite (or because of) this, they both claim to be each other's best friend.
Trickster Saint, Knight of Smoke and Mirrors, Akdarr's Favorite Liar.
Havedas is a man of many titles, most of them self appointed.
update on Havedas's new design.
expanded the "corruption" around where the horn meets the left side of his face, and gave it a wooden texture.
This is for two reasons, first is to further the idea of him being influenced by some sort of messed up magic at a young age (a wizard's curse? exposure to corrupted wild magic? A green goblin with too much exposure to fae bullshit?). The second is to separate him from my pitspawn concept, which have a mix of dragon scales and stone for their aesthetic.
I also made his eyes different colors, BUT! his current glowing eyes and glowing veins are actually due to him being a paladin. (before becoming one, he still had heterochromia).
In this world, the path to paladinhood involves a literal fusion of the prospective paladin and the divine witness to their oath, and you can not touch the divine in such a way without being changed.
this is another attempt at mixing new and old aesthetics for an armor design, with a mix of hard and soft materials.
The chest piece in particular combines modern bulletproof vests and medieval brigandines. The striped sleeves are meant to resemble landsknecht fashion, but next time I draw him I might have to make the sleeves bigger to really sell that point.
