I don’t think I posted these over here and I’m half gonna post them so I can find them in my tags later maybe but. I spent way too much time playing in hero forge awhile back making characters.
Trying to... figure out... people... cuz I have not drawn them enough recently and i’m not happy with my people. So Greyless, Casil, and a much older Haven?? Shrugging violently.
Wanted to force myself to stay awake until 10 so I doodled the Greyless family. Or at least, Haothahvun Greyless II and the world where he has a son, Haothahvun “Haven” Greyless III. I’m still not good at drawing people or relatives but.
Haven def takes up after his father, but to his dismay inherited his ‘mom’ / dad’s early graying.
The slim world where something This Fucked Up happens.
[That probably impossibly improbable universe where Greyless and Vecna have a kid]
Haven, Greyless was finding, was relentless about eating sand. The young boy hardly had begun to eat solid food, but somehow the coarse, gritty texture of the sand and it’s awful taste hadn’t deterred the child from trying to eat more than one tiny fistful of it. Greyless supposed he wasn’t sure exactly what he was going to expect when he brought the 7-month-old to the beach, but somehow it wasn’t this.
Greyless sighed, trying to gently brush the last bits of sand off of Haven’s face as he squirmed and whined, apparently disappointed about not being allowed to ‘play’ more in the sand.
“Look at you, Haven,” Greyless chided softly, softly booping the boy’s nose with his finger before tucking the handkerchief into his pocket again, “what would your father think about this, hm? Eating sand? Now, that is unbefitting of a demigod, isn’t it?”
Haven stared up at Greyless with his big, dark brown eyes that were edging with tears. He tried to lean back, kicking his legs in a vain attempt to... well, gods knew what. Leave, maybe, though Greyless doubted that was really what the baby was trying to do. Greyless shook his head with a soft smile, adjusting his son’s weight against him so he could better hold him.
“If his father saw this, he would wonder why his mother had brought him to the beach in the first place.”
Greyless arched a brow, turning to find his patron pacing idly towards him, dressed just aptly enough in loose robes that, from a distance, it might be possible to mistake him as a regular (albeit very pale) man. Vecna folded his arms behind his back, his usual look of mild amusement on his sunken features as he approached his servant and son.
“I thought it might do him some good to be somewhere new. And give me a chance for some fresh air. I hope I have not caused you worry,” Greyless said, letting Haven rest against his shoulder. “I wasn’t expecting you to come join us here today. I thought you were busy.”
Vecna hummed, coming to stop at Greyless’s side. Haven turned his head on Greyless’s shoulder to look up at his father, pausing in his attempt to fit some of Greyless’s blouse into his mouth. The last time Vecna had seen his son had been four months prior- a blip of time that felt almost unnoticeable to the lich god. But already, Haven had noticeably grown, and it reminded him that if he wanted to be involved in the demigod’s childhood, he would need to pay better attention to the mortal concept of time.
“I was, and I am,” Vecna said simply before bringing his arms back around, extending his hands.
Greyless smiled softly, shifting Haven before handing the boy over to his father. “Well, I’m sure Haven is happy to see you. I doubt he has any memory of you from the last time we saw you,” Greyless said, a tinge of sadness in his voice.
Vecna took Haven in his arms somewhat awkwardly. He knew how to hold a baby - he knew many things. But the sudden practice of actually having to hold his own son was... well, stiff at best. Greyless waited patiently though, not daring to just jump out to correct the god. The lich finally settled on keeping a grip on Haven with mage hand as well, perhaps overly cautious about harming the young boy. Haven squirmed, kicking his legs as Vecna lifted him up. Greyless bit the inside of his lip, trying to keep a straight face. Vecna held and looked at Haven like a piece of research or some foreign creature, and while Greyless prayed that would pass, it amused him every time.
Haven wiggled a few times, sticking his fingers in his mouth before the flash of one of Vecna’s large gold earrings caught the boy’s eyes. Immediately they lit up, and with a excited kick Haven tried to lean forward. Vecna furrowed his brow, but before he knew it Haven had managed to grab hold of the slab of gold, trying to pull it towards his mouth. To Greyless’s surprise, the lich seemed to genuinely smile. He shifted his grip on his son, resting him against his near-skeletal chest in the crook of his damaged arm before reaching up to gently pry Haven’s fingers off of the piece of jewelry.
“Now now, my son...” Vecna chuckled lowly, letting Haven grip his thin index finger as the boy whined. Haven followed Vecna’s hand as he carefully tore a piece of his robe off, gripping the fabric in the palm of his hand before it shifted and twisted into a small plush snake. Immediately, Haven grabbed that instead, looking at it with big eyes before he giggled and waved it around happily.
Greyless’s eyes softened. For being a god, Vecna had already proven, as Greyless had expected, to be a awkward father. And, as Greyless had expected, he had proven to treat Haven more like a subject than as his child. In Greyless’s understanding, Vecna had only ever been a mentor - to Acererak, to Narek, to many others. But maybe he could still yet prove to be an actual father figure to his actual son...
Haven becomes a nightmare because Vecna keeps teaching him magic that’s WAY out of his league but Haven still has the capacity to use it. But Vecna also Does Not Care about the repercussions of having a kid who can use Mage Hand at like 5 because when Haven gets sugar high because NOTHING is out of his reach anymore it’s not his problem it’s Greyless’s.
Greyless has almost had a heart attack SO MANY TIMES because he’s never informed of what Haven’s been taught. Find Haven about to jump off the balcony? It’s fine, his father taught him Feather Fall, but Greyless sure doesn’t know that until his son has already flung himself over the railing. Think you’ve lost your child? No, he’s just fucking Invisible. Have to deal with a bruised tailbone because Levitation was fun for the 3 seconds he could maintain it. Similarly, Spider Climb related injuries. Getting adorable and yet still very obnoxious Messages at 2 in the morning because Haven Can. Watching your son Misty Step into a fucking door and knock himself unconscious. Any offensive-based spells that he’s banned from using indoors.
Haven learns WAY too many spells very early in his life, which is I guess the plus side of being a demigod and having said father be very, very good at magic.
No matter how shit goes, Greyless is basically the only ‘parent’ for Haven, because I could never see Vecna being able to parent. His mom was Teacher Figure and he’s been Teacher Figure to every kid he’s come into contact with and I imagine it would be the same for poor Haven. So Greyless is... parent. In the not shitty world, Greyless is usually ‘dad’ and sometimes ‘mom’, and Vecna is only ever ‘father’.
Haven’s a bratty child with Too Much Power but mellows the fuck out in his teens in a okay world, and then just wants to do that Cool Adventurer Thing everyone else does. While trying to learn lessons and making sure to see Greyless at least once a year to keep him from worrying. He’s probably a wizard/sorcerer and his familiar is def a snake that may or may not be Mok’sylk.
Mega dumb thoughts while napping: Haven being a Big Dweeb Baby and really loving to pull on jewelry, especially his father’s earrings. Greyless always having to find something else for Haven to chew / tug on that isn’t Vecna’s earrings or something, even if Haven being a dork is the only thing that really gets Vecna to Really Smile.
Haven was Fucking Devastated when his hair first started to show signs of greying early when he was in his teens. Unlike Greyless he dyes it for YEARS to hide the fact that it’s. Not actually black anymore.
