Out of White Cake|| Calvin Candie & Carolyn Long
Carolyn sighed as she wiped at the tables and hummed to the old '50s song that played over the radio. The day was almost over and she had been on her feet all day. Only two hours left until she could go home and flop on her bed and sleep for the rest of her life until her next shift started.
There was only one customer left in the diner. He hadn't been her customer, but his waitress had gotten to go home early which left her to clean up the mess.
She straightened the pale yellow dress that she was forced to wear as a uniform as she made her way towards the lone customer.
"Can I get you anything else," she asked as she looked down at his empty plate.
She hoped that he would be one of those silent type customers that dined and left as she waited for him to answer.
Please say no.
