shorten long posts is a nice feature but what tumblr considers a long post and what i consider a long post are two different things and i’m glad they let you turn it off
Never have I ever Stayed friends with someone Who thought they didn't have to say thank you Just because it was someone's job Like I will drop them then and there
So I was home alone and I had to sign for the pizza. All goes well until the delivery guy tells me to enjoy my pizza and I say "you too" just before I shut the door. He probably did want to enjoy some of my pizza. I should have ran after him.
What I'm Thankful For: Being Raised To Have Manners & Common Sense
I felt like being a little lighthearted today, especially since today has been VERY hectic. I want to thank my Grandmother (Big V) for making sure that I have impeccable manners and to know when to use common sense when it matters most.
To say "yes/no sir," "yes/no ma'am," "please," & "thank you" is second-nature to me. I do it to everyone; old and young. People appreciate it when you're courteous and thankful about the favors/kind gestures that they are able to do for you. One thing that my Grandmother has always told me that no one owes you anything - you better be grateful and thankful for what others do for you.
My Grandmother taught me to think for myself, and to practice good common sense when it to my actions/behaviors. Every action has a consequence, and you need to make the best choice that will put you in a better situation. It is important to do what's right instead of what's popular; it's easier to follow the crowd versus standing alone. She taught me to use my common sense to discern between what situations would work out in my best interests and what situations would not.
Big V also taught me to be a good judge of character - treat people fairly, but know the difference between people who will uplift me and those who will bring me down. I always refer back to this when I'm re-thinking my associations with people. This valuable lesson has been helpful when I have decided to give someone a second chance and when I have decided to step away from someone.
When it's all said and done, being raised "old school" has been a blessing to me, and I pray that I'm able to instill good manners and the importance of having (and practicing) common sense into my future children. Thanks Big V for raising me right! :)
