it's good to be aware the world is blatantly unfair .

"The world is shit. No matter the good outcomes, there is always the bad outcome."

a long sigh left his lips. He hated living someday, and personally with the job he had, no one could blame him. Yet, looking at the woman momentarily, he couldn't help but wonder about some of her hardships in life. Though he wasn't one to pry.

" If you don't mind me asking, what do you hate most about living?"

with a subtle tilt of his head and a crinkling of golden eyes, he peered down at the young woman with a questioning glint to her gaze. questioning, and wary--she had a good, natural instinct for the unknown and the dangers it posed, he sensed as much. ganondorf smiled, and sheathed his blade back at his hip.

"i believe you meant to say thank you," he corrected, offering a broad hand to help her up from the ground.

she seemed more than capable, but he had already been in the area, and the opportunity to test his blade upon the havoc dreadmane that had sprung upon her...

well, it was too tempting. and too easy of an avenue to open up conversation.

"i just happened to be in the area--" an area without other signs of humanity, isolated and cold where only damned creatures roamed. "and thought it'd be rude not to lend a hand."

He's seen enough ghosts these days. Between the retroact rain's phantoms and the TD's mimicry of fallen comrades, it's left Jiyan with much to contemplate. Ever since the day Sentinel Jué made him the general of the Midnight Rangers and granted him the companionship of the Qingloong, he's sworn himself to one cause: to defend life by any means necessary. No more soldiers sacrificed for the greater good, no more lives ended far too early by disasters. He, the General, will not go down while Jinzhou and its people need protecting.

And yet, his thoughts drift to Knell Square and the field of Emortias. Such a beautiful and tragic display. Each seed planted is a life he failed to protect, immortalized in the soil. Jiyan may be fallible, but it does nothing to ease the weight upon his conscious and shoulders. Regardless of his regrets, it can't linger forever. His focus has to be on the now, on the living still under his command. The sound of a door opening breaks him from his haze, eyes flying up to the sudden visitor.
