Oh I wasn't defending him lol. I just think that hawk is a bitch the a fucking loser. I like hating on him. dying in a plane crash he caused is just hilarious ngl.
OK GOOD bc i was trying really hard not to be mean if u were a hawk enjoyer im sure they're out there.... somewhere..... (hawk enjoyers if ur still here look away im about to be mean to ur guy sorry)
grabbing your shoulders and shaking. this guy sucks so fucking bad i wanted to kneecap him every time he showed up in the handful of ntt issues i read. i watched titans 2018 beforehand and MY GOD they toned down how much of a fucking dick that guy is. god he sucks and not in a fun way
oops found these panels i saved as draft and never posted earlier
conflicted on this scene. I’m a bitch and hate hawk* so i kind of liked it
but also it feels like this never should have even happened because hawk was so clearly not capable of operating in the field at all. like I guess they were all doing pretty bad here thats probably the only reason it got this far
*the only time he’s halfway bearable is when he’s with dove and being written by a writer who understands that while he THINKS of himself as the ultimate powerful macho man power fantasy, he is not actually always the toughest thing in the room and not always right. I guess these writers got that since it’s pretty clear that he’s negligibly strong compared to donna but he was also acting way more assholey than usual here so i still hated him

[image: a series of comic panels from the new teen titans, mostly featuring Donna Troy (wonder girl) and hank hall (hawk). they are standing outside in the snow near a tree. Hank punches at donna's head and she catches his fist. she glowers tat him
HANK:And unless you don't realize it -- that's exactly why we're fighting. And we're losing our war against crime.
DONNA: We won't win it your way, hawk.
Donna grabs Hank by his shirt and shoves him against a tree. He looks surprised.
DONNA: And I won't let you get your way. I may ahve screwed up every way I can in picking and leading this group -- but I sweat to god while I'm in charge we will not resort to intentional murder. You got that, hawk? Do you understand me? Do you?!!!
hank grimaces kind of like he's in pain and donna keeps talking.
DONNA: God I'm doing my best to keep this lousy team together. I've tried everything... and you would throw it all away... you'd ruin it to sate your stinking lust for blood.
Donna starts crying, but she still looks angry and is still holding hank against the tree.
DONNA: Hawk, the predator! Hawk, the hunter! Forget it, Mister. Forget it! Those days are gone! You listen to me now. I've seen the titans shot down in flames three times... And i damn won't let that happen again just so you can jget your rocks off by killing
we can see hank looks limp now. someone off panel is trying to pull donna off him.
DONNA: I don't like being leader, hawk. I don't like it. Do you understand what I'm asying, hawk? Do you? Do you?
dick grayson: It's hard because there are like little corners of the dick grayson fandom where a bunch of different opinions would be unpopular
like in some parts of the fandom if you think he is not super emotionally open and not always the happy-go-lucky guy, that's unpopular. but i guess it doesn't seem unpopular where i hang out?
this one i'm unsure if is unpopular where i hang out so i guess i'll go with it: I know i've seen some people indicating they like when dick intimidates/beats the information out of people (probably because it goes against the previous fanon stereotype that he always has to be nice) but i hate it because i always hate the trope of the hero beating information out of people being portrayed as a good thing that works. like in the 1980s he seems to take objection with some of bruce's methods and I know that he can change morally but I don't like seeing him go back on THAT id rather see him genuinely surpass bruce in detective skills to find new things than have dick beat people up for info
hawk and dove: they would be stronger characters if the writers didn't push the opposite thing so much because often the effect is "dove has to be a reasonable person who isn't an asshole to people and doesn't leap immediately to violence.... that means hawk has to be the BIGGEST, MOST UNREASONABLE ASSHOLE EVER WHO IMMEDIATELY LEAPS TO VIOLENCE. but also we have to portray it as if these are two equally valid opposites of the same coin"
also the writers just try to tie hawk to too much real world shitiness for me to like him and then often also try to portray that as somehow a valid opinion (toxic masculinity, xenophobia/racism, pro state violence)
