@hawkamonglesserbirds replied to your post: ok but given that a woman’s BG training...
This is something I’ve been meaning to explore with Paul as well as he has also been given BG training which seems to be extremely unnerving and psychologically damaging in that area (Paul seems to have a lot of anxieties around sex? And psychological damage might be the point to a degree as a sort of control/manipulation mechanism?)
trauma buddies high five lmao
though lbrh that’s also why they don’t trust each other. they both have most likely developed some antipathy towards the BG and their methods and their adepts.
Both of them raised in cultures at once similar and dissimilar, forced to live in the same house and yet they absolutely CANNNOT trust each other. Honestly, I don’t think Irulan is even capable of trusting anyone ?? there was no one and nobody that Irulan could genuinely trust or believe had her best interests at heart, which means that her adult life (especially while Paul was still alive) was spent balancing all the different groups that wanted to use her as a pawn like ?? everything n this universe is so fucking toxic lmao
OK enough rambling though, I definitely feel like there was psychological damage done as a means of control. After I’m done catching up on everything, I’m gonna post some more thoughts on the BG---if you have the Dune Encyclopedia handy, I definitely recommend reading up on Anirul Corrino, because there’s some very telling excerpts from her diaries that provide insight into her experiences as a BG “breeder”
