We went to Hawkfest yesterday (it celebrates the migration of the Broad-winged Hawk), and I wore one of my multiple pigeon shirts. It turns out hawk enthusiasts are also pretty enthusiastic about pigeons! :) It was good.

My husband, @risingfox and I went to a Hawkfest yesterday. I was looking forward to petting and getting one of these birds to perch on my hand, but they didn't allow guests to do that. I also asked one of the members of the hawking club if they allow people to use their birds for thematic photo shoots, and they said they can't, since those birds are solely for hunting. If they do, then they'd get their falconer licences taken away.

Things I saw at HawkFest today...

A child tormenting the owl

The same child pestering the owl's trainer (or whatever you would call that)

Releasing baby hawks into the wild :)

A man holding a pigeon and talking very enthusiastically about pigeons to a rather large crowd of people (he was pretty interesting)

A small child who appeared to only speak French trying to communicate with one of the falconers

A very lazy bald eagle

Lots of old people taking too many pictures

Alex the #GreatHornedOwl .. Another educational bird with The Peregrine Foundation of Canada who were at #HawkFest (which does run this weekend coming up as well, if you're in the Windsor area!).
