I dont know if you are interseted of making a tutorial :) and again LOVE YOUR ART keep up like that!♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎
WHOAA THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I am a bit ashamed to admit that I'm not very good at choosing colors, and I mostly work based off of references and whatever theory I can remember about reflected light and hue variation. Basically, I pay attention to how the surroundings of my subject change the color within the subject.
I'm sorry, this is going to be a long post...
I'm sure you have noticed the yellow of the flower being reflected back into this person's chin and their rosy cheeks, but there's also subtler variations in hue. There's some green because they're surrounded by plants (implied in the background) and also a pinkish tone under their jaw, a reflection of their own skin.
When it comes to painting I lay down the flat colors in one layer, and add a color (usually blue because I love exterior scenes) on a layer set to multiply.
After this I carve out the light source, with a greyish-yellow color on a separate layer set to Add. I also add some chromatic fringe (the orangeish color) in certain areas on a separate layer with an airbrush.
After this it's just a long process of squinting at the reference to see the shifts of tones, basically what's lighter and what's darker. Here's the reference I used for this doodle. I reduce what we call details into simple shapes that are easy to replicate, because it is a lot easier for me since I draw using a similar process. If you squint, you'll notice that the seemingly lighter areas in the shadows aren't as light as what's actually in the "lights" area. Keeping this in mind when doing details is important, or else you could lose your painting. I highlighted the areas that have similar tones in similar colors.
Here's how it ends up looking. I've never done a tutorial before, since I don't think I'm qualified to teach something that I myself am still learning about, but I hope it helps. Thank you so much for your message!!
"what do you think is gonna happen next *real name*?"
YOU WANNA KNOW WHAT I THINK?! I THINK BECAUSE YOU ALL PROVOKED HORIKOSHI SOMEOHOW THERE WILL BE A GANG OF TRAITORS AND SOMEONE IMPORTANT *stares intesnely at THAT side of the fandom* IS GOING TO DIE.
Tazer and Dacher out? oh no. oh no. oh no no no no
They haven’t signed Strome yet and Nylander is out. I mean, as a CBJ fan I see where we can win against a wounded animal but as a hockey lover and Toews+ fan this looks pre-2010 Hawks to me.
