He appreciates your presence in the club so much. Like, not even kidding, you're one of the few people he can tolerate being somewhat near with
At first, he was standoffish towards you. Can you blame him, though? You were but a stranger to him—a stranger who willingly joined a club filled with hormonal teenage boys who play volleyball (acting like he isn't a regular player in the said club)
What sold you on him was the fact that you prepared and cooked his share for a barbecue party with his teammates. Don't get him wrong, he isn't willing to join the celebration; the idea of sharing tongs and other hand-picked food with the others is just bleh to him
Lo and behold, you call him to a more secluded area of the field. There, in front of you, is a grill filled with meat, mushrooms, and sweet potatoes
You tell him you requested to bring your own grill and set to the party, not willing to share utensils with the club. Funnily enough, you made an exception towards him, seeing as you two were essentially the same
You made him sit at a distance between the two of you. He swears his heart skipped a beat at that moment
Bokuto Koutarou!
Oh, boy. He swears he didn't mean to slather you with his "germs of a sweat," as you call it. He's just so, so, so excited to have another manager in the club! He means it, really
Akaashi had to pull him away as you remain frozen on your feet, hands slowly twitching towards a handkerchief and a bottle of alcohol. Akaashi also had to reassure Bokuto that, no, you don't hate him (probably)
He did make up to you, though! Now, he always wipes away any sweat or germs on him before approaching you. Hell, he even bought some extra wet wipes and tissues in case you ran out of your stock
He always listens to you rant or vent about the supposed lack of cleanliness of the volleyball club. He doesn't take too much offence at your comments (he knows they come from a good place... hopefully). When he asks you why you even joined in the first place, all he got as a response was a heated glare and "stupid feelings making me do stupid things"
Whenever the club wins a match (whether official or not), he vibrates in his place whenever you give him his towel or water bottle. Granted, you do so with a small scowl on your face, but he makes sure you know it's appreciated!
And when you finally, finally make first contact with him first—whether a hand on his shoulder or a freaking hug—he feels like he's on cloud 9... and yeah, he might've hugged you again while being sweaty, but it's just because he's so happy!
Oikawa Tooru!
Oh, boy - part 2
It's honestly not his fault, really. You just make it so easy to tease you! Yeah, one of his newer hobbies is teasing you, much to the team's annoyance
A poke on your cheek here; a quick hug there; don't forget an arm around your shoulder from time to time! No matter how many times you swat him away with your clipboard, he just doesn't stop
If anyone asks why he does what he does, he answers that he likes seeing you flustered. Really, is it such a crime to watch your face scrunch up like an annoyed cat?
He does know the limits, though. Whenever it's obvious that you feel too dirty, too contaminated, he ushers the team away from your vicinity. Especially when it comes during a particularly brutal practise. He takes on the majority of the clean-up, leaving you to do other manager stuff with the coach
And as an apology for all his teasing, he buys you a basket filled with cleaning supplies—complete with new handkerchiefs and masks as well! You take the opportunity to spray alcohol on him whenever he trespasses on your personal space
Haiba Lev!
At first, Lev doesn't understand why you avoided him after seeing him eat a fallen piece of meat off the floor. He tried asking, but his heart deflated when you gave him the meanest side-eye known to mankind
But he doesn't let that deter him from understanding you! He asks a lot of questions about your habits—although most of them are just plain ridiculous, like: "Would you dunk me in a bathtub of alcohol if I roll around in mud?" You answered yes without hesitation
Once he gets the hang of always sanitising items before bringing them to you, he gets on your good side (much to the surprise of the whole team)
He begins to mimic—or rather, follow—your cleaning habits. Hell, he even bought one of those alcohol keychains for the two of you! He feels a surge of pride whenever he sees the gift hanging from your bag
And yeah, he gets teased by the team for being a copycat (their words, not his), but he just genuinely wanted to understand you better. And if he learned some good habits along the way, who was he to stop?
Nishinoya Yuu!
Like Bokuto, he gets ahead of himself when he learns the team has a new manager! So yeah, maybe he did jump to hug you while still wearing his damp jersey. And maybe you did slap the soul out of his body afterwards, but dare he say, he deserved that
He notices your hesitant touches immediately. The awkward glances before handing out the towels and water bottles. Not to mention how you stand a solid meter or two away from the team
He really doesn't say anything about it. Why would he? It's just your preference. It wasn't like it's his business to meddle in your space. He continues being him—a menace to the team—but tones it down with you
Although when he overhears other teams making fun of your habits, he doesn't hesitate to unleash hell. "At least they don't smell like unfiltered sewer water!" he'd yell, one step away from jumping on them
If the comments affect you, you'll be whisked away to a secluded, clean area. He has a spare handkerchief ready if you want to cry your heart out. He'll talk trash about them, all the while hyping you with a five-meter distance between the two of you, of course!
Miya Atsumu!
Honestly, he was offended at first. Not because of your habits, but the fact that you seemed hellbent on avoiding him! Because why the hell are you refusing the snacks he sometimes gives out? Or hesitate when he asks you to hand him a volleyball
He thinks you hate him, by the way. He complains to anyone willing to listen (absolutely no one). He's dramatic about it, too, wailing as if you personally attacked him. Best believe he reenacts the time you recoiled when he extended his hand for a shake
But then it clicks. Mainly because the image of Sakusa briefly overlapped yours when you squeezed yourself into the corner of the gym during a practise match. So you don't hate him, after all!
He becomes insufferable afterwards, though. He starts actively showing off that he's clean and sanitised when you're around. It's very obviously performative, too. Osamu and Rin snicker at him; Aran, Kita, and you just watch with a bewildered look
He expects a medal every time he hands you a clean volleyball or if he sanitises his hands after picking up dirty laundry off the floor. You roll your eyes, but you're more relaxed around him now. Hell, you even clapped when he mopped the floors right for the first time
Absolutely smug when you finally shake his clean hand. The best part for him was that you did it all in instinct! He just raised his hand, and you took it right away! He boasts about it to anyone and everyone
