           buffy's  leg  bounces  with  excitement  as  the  waitress  sets  down  their  food.  she's  been  craving  a  burger  for  days,  and  was  thankful  for  scott's  invitation.  it’s  always  more  enjoyable  to  gorge  on  cheeseburgers  with  good  company.  "honestly,  anyone  who  doesn't  like  a  tater  tot  isn't  someone  i  wanna  know."  buffy  exclaims  as  she  pops  one  of  said  tots  in  her  mouth.  "they're  just  so  crunchy,  but  soft  on  the  inside.  plus,  made  from  potatoes.  potatoes  are  like  the  gift  that  keeps  on  giving."  true  to  her  nature,  buffy  tends  to  show  enthusiasm  in  the  most  unremarkable  things  when  she's  happy.  and  lately,  even  with  this  darkness  looming  over  the  town,  buffy's  been  feeling  pretty  happy.

            chloe  wouldn't  consider  herself  a  pool  shark.  the  detective  doesn't  intentionally  deceive  people  into  believing  she's  horrible  at  the  game.  there  may  be  an  omission  to  her  skill  level,  but  never  with  the  explicit  intent  to  hustle.  plus,  if  people  were  to  assume  her  skill  level  then  it's  really  no  fault  of  her  own.  if  anything,  it’s  as  good  a  way  as  any  to  teach  other’s  not  to  underestimate  others.  "how  do  you  want  to  do  this?"  chloe  asks,  walking  around  the  pool  table  to  start  racking  up  the  balls.  "8  or  9  ball?"

         amber  eyes  survey  the  kitchen.  there's  various  herbs  and  books  everywhere.  and  the  smell.  it's  as  if  someone  burned  something  then  burned  it  again.  this  is  what  faye  gets  for  following  a  book  from  the  crock  of  a  magic  shop  in  town.  or  for  trying  to  pick  up  potion  making  to  begin  with.  but  with  faye's  stubborn  nature,  she  wasn’t  going  to  stop  until  she  has  mastered  the  skill.  ‘the  space  beneath  is  empty  space,  the  stuff  above  does  not  belong,  i  bid  it  to  its  rightful  place,  to  clear  the  air  and  right  this  wrong.’  faye  thought  the  spell,  repeating  it  three  times.  the  third  time  the  words  coming  out  of  red  lips,  barely  above  a  whisper.  and  like  that,  the  mess  is  cleaned  up  and  smell  gone.  she  smiles,  pleased  with  her  work,  as  she  turns  to  harry.  "you  know,  it's  times  like  this  i  pity  the  normals.  they  will  never  be  this  cool."

harry  swears  that  he  saw  something  coming  at  him  from  the  corner  of  his  eye.   he  could  feel  the  footsteps  not  far  behind  his  trail,  following  him  like  a  shadow.   what  he  didn’t  anticipate  was  quite  literally  running  into  someone  in  his  attempts  to  escape  whatever  was  there  before.  it’s  gone  now,  or  so  the  promise  would  likely  imply,  and  harry’s  only  half  -  way  calmed  down.  “  did  you  not  see  that  thing  ? !  it  was  huge  and  had  these  --   these  yellow  eyes,  i  could’ve  sworn  i  --  ”   he’d  seen  them  before,   but  it  hurts  to  piece  everything  together.   he  takes  a  deep  breath,  looking  to  his  apparent  savior  with  at  least  a  mild  appreciation  for  him  being  there.   “  are  you  sure  you  didn’t  see  anything  ?  ”

“   thanks  for  the  concern,  but  i’ve  done  alright  for  myself  so  far.  ”   she  knows  her  limits  --   at  least  for  the  most  part  --   and  maeve  didn’t  want  someone  else  having  a  say  in  what  she  did  or  didn’t  choose  to  do  with  her  time.  it  didn’t  matter  where  it  came  from.  a  bottle  she  got  straight  off  the  shelves  were  usually  more  accessible  than  a  decent  cup  of  water.  “  i  drink  plenty.  no  need  for  the  lecture.  ”
