Woah woah w o a h. Jess had been sat giggling away about something stupid that had happened in school. It was an easy way to get their minds off the stupid high school dramas. Mike had been the prime topic of course, but now all of that was going out the window as she felt a soft hand trail up her thigh.

God damn why did I wear shots?!

Jess hadn’t been caught off guard like this, a small giggle escaped her lips out of confusion more than anything else. “Em? Is this another one of your great-“ (but cruel) “-practical jokes?”

The first incident is when she walks in on Emily half-dress, hair across her shoulders and facing away from the door. She shuts it immediately, but finds herself unable to admit to seeing her that way.

The second incident is when they go shopping together and she appears in some sort of outfit that outlines her personality in some sense. Beth blinks so much to take it in that Emily asks in that familiar snide way if she has something in her eye.

The third incident is when they are at the beach with the others. The swimsuit Emily wears on the trip causes Sam to question if her cheeks are sunburned despite having only left the shade of the umbrella twice all day.

The fourth incident is when it’s winter, snow falling and causing complaints between the two of them. Clothing around this season is still cute on anyone, Beth reminds herself after they walk out of the shop.

The fifth incident is when Hannah has disappeared into the mist of the night and, in the worst way possible her breath vanishes in a hiss when she spots Emily. There’s something amazing about the sense of betrayal she feels when it comes to someone so outwardly gorgeous.

The sixth time, the true time, is when they meet once again in the mines a year later. Anger lights in her again, dimmer than the one from her flamethrower yet holding more intensity than that. Still, even she cannot hold a grudge for much longer. A shove sends Emily tumbling down with her spare bag of flares with a last compliment of ‘you still look as great as before’ before battle cries fill the cavern.

character in general: To be totally honest, I’m not a fan of Emily. I see why people like her, but I personally don’t.how they play them: Really well. While I’m not crazy about her as a character, I definitely appreciate an accurate portrayal, and you’re spot-onthe mun: We haven’t talked much, but you seem really nice

Ashley, it has often been said, looks much like her mother --- they have the same green - brown eyes, the same copper hair, the same nose. Ashley is looking more like her mother than ever, now, with such tired eyes and fluttering smiles that seem so hard to maintain. Amanda smiles at the younger girl { and oh, it’s true, ashley has always looked like her } and though the curve of her lips is not as bright as it once was, it is sincere. She has never been close to Emily --- not to any of her daughter’s friends, truthfully. But she is trying.

“Ashley told me about --- what happened. In the mines, with your --- bite.”

She is not certain she believes her daughter --- head full of books and fairytales, it would be like Ashley to concoct a monster to protect her friend’s { undeserved } innocence --- anything to avoid blaming Josh WHOLLY. And, oh, the woman HATES that boy for what he has done to her daughter; turned her dim - eyed and distant and small and scared of herself. But such is neither here nor now.

“And she’s also told me that she is ---...” MOM, YOU DON’T GET IT. SHE ALMOST DIED BECAUSE OF ME! I HATE IT! I HATE MYSELF BECAUSE I ALMOST KILLED HER! “--- Sorry. I know I can’t ask you to forgive her.” And yet, isn’t that just what she’s doing? She has no choice --- Ashley won’t speak to her. But she will speak to them, and Amanda would do ANYTHING to help her daughter heal. “But I just --- want you to know how much she --- how much she cares about you, Emily.”
