I'm still digesting all that I saw from the newest episode. I still feel so bad for Caine, he didn't deserve to be deleted. Even if it was an accident. Can you fucking imagine in those few split seconds, he probably truly thought after he had done that deleting him had been their overall goal. The soul shaking terror he put into those last two words… the instant regret of his actions with torturing the remaining humans as well as his insecurities of not being enough being amplified and confirmed bubbling out, "Uh, wait."
I love the complexities of all the characters in this show. The LAYERS, ooogh… Both from the humans and Caine's pov are so understandable, there's just a level of communication that either side just can't get across and understand about each other. The humans treating Caine on the same level as a fellow human and then Caine is struggling to grapple with being confronted with that level because he can't fucking understand it as a non-human as a complex intelligent AI. He wasn't made to understand the interlocking, layered complexities of human emotions. He was made to be a creative output, sharing and spewing out a collective fed data, from a series of photos, to put together an idea or story.
ALL CAINE EVER WANTED WAS TO BE APPRECIATED AND ACKNOWLEDGED FOR HIS WORK, but… but he just couldn't recognize or even begin to grasp that it wasn't an adventure they wanted to give them answers or hope of an exit. The circus and the temporary prison he broke out of was all he's ever known, he doesn't know that outside those two things the remaining humans are struggling with grasping their loss of their pervious lives as flesh and blood beyond the digital world.
Caine can't comprehend it what they're grieving, what they're claiming to miss and return to. Caine WANTS to experience the world outside of The Amazing Digital Circus that he made WITH them. He wants to UNDERSTAND, but even with his self-proclaimed powers of being the God of the Digital world and the Circus... He's limited to the parameters he was programed with at the end of the day. So, he does his best to appease them by doing what he does best to fill in the blanks they're seeking by making that mental fuck of an adventure.
*Bangs my head and gnaws on drywall* The micro miscommunications and misleading misunderstandings are killing me. I can see them and why both sides, humans and Caine, are so aggravated and then grew a distain for each side. Caine took away their mouths so that they couldn't scream. Now the talking Chattering Teeth Ringmaster has been forever silenced in an accidental deletion, even now without a mouth, we can hear his echoing harrowing screams.
