the sun shone through the blinds as he woke up, causing him to cover his eyes as to enjoy the darkness for a little longer. his head was heavy as he stood up, feet looking for his slippers and eyes still barely open. he hadn't slept well. it was only when he left the house -- late, as predictable -- that lancelot noticed a funny thing: his phone screen still said “december third”. it had been december third yesterday. he figured perhaps the device was frozen and promptly restarted it, never thinking about that again.
he met her outside the warehouse after his shift was over, a strange sensation that he had been here before overwhelming him. she wore the same shirt and her hair the same way, too. “thanks for seeing me on such short notice,” he spoke in a mock-serious voice. “-- i’m kidding, did you bring my sandwich?” the female was his best friend and he loved her. he loved her in a way he couldn’t exactly tell her, though. “ready to go?” the man questioned and promptly began to walk home. it was weird to him that today was the same as yesterday, but he was trying to deal with it the best way he knew how: not dealing with it at all.
