23. Which songs do you like to sing in the shower?

Answered here in a really non-answery way.

24. Are you a good driver?

I’m an okay driver. I can get where I need to go. I actually don’t drive a ton because my husband and I work together & he generally drives us to work and when we go places as a family.

38. What’s one show you watch or musician you listen to that your friends know nothing about?

Ummm most of them haha. At least as far as musicians go. A huge swath of my musical taste is based on the music my dad listened to when I a kid, so plenty of 70s folk rock/singer-songwriter stuff that I probably don’t talk much about. (I’m actually going to see James Taylor next month with my dad & brother and I’m pretty psyched for that.)

top 5 favorite self-care things to do! (or top 5 flowers, if that’s too personal 🌸)

Too personal here on these internets? Not possible.

1. I try to meditate and write in a journal daily. That sounds way more instagram-lifestyle than it is, I swear.

2. Cuddling with my dogs and one of my cats (the other cat is... basically feral) and also voicing what I believe their thoughts to be. Probably anthropomorphizing them more than anyone else might think is healthy. And checking on and watering my plants.

3. Taking a class that I enjoy - right now I’m taking ASL II.

4. Wearing clothes that fit me and make me happy (read: lots of sweatpants, leggings, and hoodies)

5. Retail therapy - buying myself a new tea, a new album, a new journal, and new hoodie.

This made me happy to think about. Thank you!

3. Favorite show to binge?

I’m watching late night shows (Colbert, Seth Meyer, John Oliver) pretty religiously these days. It’s the only way I can stomach the news.

Otherwise, I just finished the second season of Ozark, which I would definitely recommend.

29. Any musicians/bands you’ve discovered?

I am the worst at seeking out new music (hence my 70s Singer/Songwriter playlist, haha), but a friend texted the other day to tell me I should be listening to the new Waxahatchee album, so maybe I’ll give them a shot?

38. What’s the weather like where you are?

Oh lord, a total shit show. Two days ago it was sunny and in the low 80s. I actually had my AC on for a bit. Today? 45 mph winds & snow squalls. Nothing like April in the Midwest. Good times.

when was the last time you left your home?

I take my dogs out every day, but that’s to the space behind my building. Does that count as leaving my home? If not it’s been... a minute. 

what was the last thing you bought?

Trash bags and cat litter, living the glam life here. 

is quarantine driving you insane or are you finally relaxed?

It really varies. I work in mental healthcare and all my colleagues agree that this work has never felt more exhausting, boundaries feel really blurred, and I feel like I’m not doing a great job because I have nothing beyond validation to offer anyone, but at the same time at least I feel like I am doing something. Outside of work, I don’t know, being at home is my natural setting so I’m okay with that. 

who are you spending quarantine with?

My wife, who is a rockstar, and my pets (see below). 

do you have pets to keep you company?

My dogs, Evelyn and Harvey, and my cat, Emmett. Emmett has a cat, Olivia, but she’s shit company. 

what are your current responsibilities?

I work from home Monday - Thursday and generally try to keep our apartment tidy and not completely covered in pet fur. 

do you have a room to yourself?

I’ve taken over the guest room/office for work (closest to the WiFi and a door for privacy), my wife is usually in our bedroom for her work (second closest to the WiFi and a door for privacy), and I’ll venture into the living room for relaxation. We’re pretty lucky to have a fairly large space in this city. 

are you exercising?

Yeah, I’m doing yoga - either through my beloved gym’s streaming classes or youtube if I can’t make the class time. 

town, country, city?

City.

how’s your toilet paper supply?

It’s good. We’ll need to get some more soon but no urgency right now. 

what’s the worst thing that you had to cancel?

I’m going to interpret worst thing as thing I’m saddest about. A retreat/continuing education opportunity got cancelled at the very start of this and I was quite sad about that. I usually go to my family reunion and do a whole east coast thing in the summer and I’m not sure that’s going to happen.  

what’s the best thing you’ve had to cancel?

I had an appointment at the DMV to renew my license/get a real ID and a dentist appointment that I wasn’t sad to have to postpone. 

who do you miss the most?

Well my nieces asked the other day when they would be able to give me a hug so that pretty much ripped my heart out. Hard for anyone else to compete with that. 

do you have any new hobbies?

Nah. 

what are you watching the most?

I just watched the final season of Schitt’s Creek, literally watched the last episode this afternoon and sobbed like baby. I’m currently in mourning for that. Not sure what’s up next. If anyone has any recommendations...

are you still going to work?

I’m working from home - very grateful that I’m able to do so. 

what are you out of?

Nothing that really comes to mind (for which I’m incredibly grateful). 

have you made any changes to your hair during quarantine?

No. My hair is getting longer than I would like but I’m terrified to try to cut it. I have to keep looking professional, at least from the tits up.

🎸: do you play any instruments? Sadly I’m devoid of any and all musical talent. I really enjoy listening to music though!
