19.) Favorite photograph headcanon

A photo from the old days. Fareeha’s in the center, because the photo was supposed to just be her, but then Gabe and Jack took notice of what they were doing and involved themselves, and if her uncles were gonna be in the photo then so should Jesse and Angie, and then it was a group photo that nobody had planned for and now Ana doesn’t have that cute picture of Fareeha in her new dress.

The end result is something bittersweet--a reminder of the things that keep her going (her daughter, her friends) and the things that went wrong (Gabe, and these children she watched grow into soldiers because she didn’t finish the battle the right way the first time).

HC: Stars

Whenever Juudai ends up sleeping outside/camping out somewhere, he spends a lot of time looking at the stars in the sky and thinking about space/neo space. It gives him a peace of mind and is a form of temporary escape from Earth.

HC: Dreams

Ever since the events in the other dimension, Juudai often gets weird dreams that sometimes turn into night terrors. Some days he’ll appear as though he’s sleeping all day and being lazy, but that’s usually a day following one of these restless nights. But he doesn’t tell anyone about this and instead jokes about how he just wants to sleep longer.

HC: Ocean

The ocean reminds him a lot of his Neo Spacians, and in that sense, it’s one of his happy places. He sometimes hangs out with his duel monster spirits on a deserted beach, but it’s lately become a rarer occurrence as he’s often somewhere more inland. (The earth reminds him of the things he did in the other dimension as Haou.)

HC: Dogs

(Welp, this got long.) When he was a toddler, Juudai got really attached to a scruffy old dog at a shelter. His fur was long and messy and he was blind in one eye but he was Juudai’s absolute favourite. The dog was always sad until Juudai came by, and suddenly he acted like he was a puppy again. The shelter owners sometimes asked if Juudai was sure he didn’t want to see one of the ‘nicer’ dogs instead, but while they were cute, Juudai was attached to this one. Besides, the others already got a lot of attention from other people, whereas he felt like the owners didn’t put as much care into his dog. Sure enough, soon the workers told him that they were putting the dog down and Juudai plead with them not to. He also begged his parents to let him adopt it, but since they were always too busy, they said that he was too hyperactive back then to take care of it by himself. So instead he would take the poor thing on walks and try to convince other people to adopt it before it was too late. One day he stopped by and the dog was gone. He felt like he had failed his best friend and was about to start bawling when the owner told him that an elderly man adopted it. Apparently the old man saw Juudai’s desperate efforts and was moved by how a kid could love and care about an old animal that much. Unfortunately, Juudai never found out who the old man was, but at least his dog was happy. (Whether or not it was the truth is arguable though...)

★ - sad headcanon: it took a long time for nico to begin to believe that his relationship with will would last. it was for more than one reason (namely, his low self esteem and the knowledge that first relationships almost never work out) and in the beginning it didn’t really bother him that much. he figured there would come a day when he and will would fall out of love or something more drastic would happen, but he felt like as long as he knew it was coming, he’d be fine. however, as their relationship progressed, the idea of not spending the rest of his life with will became harder and harder to accept. he tried not to spend excessive amounts of time worrying about it, and didn’t in the beginning, but one night when he was tired and had already had a rough day he found himself crying because damn it, he didn’t care if he was only nineteen and had only ever dated one person, he loved will and he couldn’t stand the idea of things not working out. it wasn’t until he’d had a long conversation with will one night when will had admitted to, “not being able to imagine a life without you,” that nico began to believe that maybe this could last, that maybe this person wouldn’t leave him.

nico would be sO PISSED omg. “what so im just supposed to sit here and,,, do,, nothing?” and will’d be like “well yeah pretty much.” when nico would refuse to sleep bc “i just slept for twelve hours what do you want from me” will would do his best to entertain him but god nico would get so fed up and grumpy from having to sit around and not do anything that required too much brainpower. the only upside to this is that when nico gets frustrated he furrows his eyebrows so that the skin right above his nose gets all scrunched up which is pretty much the cutest thing. will loves to kiss him there, which results in the wonderful grumpy-and-blushy nico.

and will. oh my god. as soon as will gets hurt, nico’s all over him, refusing to leave the infirmary and trying to help him. honestly, nico’s such a sweetheart to him (admittedly with a few “you idiot how could you get hurt what were you thinking” comments) but unfortunately, will just stresses the whole time about having to get back to work. and nico’s like “but we have time to just talk now this is good WAIT HELL NO GET BACK IN THAT BED” but no matter how much will drives him crazy nico refuses to leave. by the end of the day nico’s so exhausted that he falls asleep in the chair next to will’s bed, making will smile.

18.) Favorite possession headcanon

Hanzo: This one’s kinda hard. It feels like a cop-out to say his bow, but I also don’t see him as someone really attaching a lot of sentiment to the things he owns. He travels so much and has to travel light and half his things get ruined. So for a long time, it’s Storm Bow--his primary weapon, his marketable skill, his one thing he knows he can always fall back on.

Later on, though? Who knows. I think he would highly value any gift McCree gave him. In a related headcanon, I think his bracelet in his Casual skin came from Genji, and while that for a long time might not be a favorite possession, merely one he cannot let go of, I think that might get up there as his relationship with his brother gets better. 

McCree: Well, A.) Peacekeeper, but also B.) His hat. Everyone already puts a great amount of sentimentality on it for him, but I think he picked it up sometime during Overwatch’s first run. It may or may not have even been a gift, but it’s something he became kind of known for--black hat for Blackwatch sure, but also a regular hat for his downtime. Anyone on base could pick out “that cowboy kid” by looking for the six-foot tall man with a cowboy hat on. It’s sentiment for his image, and days gone by, and also he just looks good in it.
