I just wanted to say I love your style, it's very charming and cute! I know you probably got this a lot, but is there any tips or advice you could recommend to an art college student like myself?

An art college student?? Uh to be honest you probably have more knowledge and know how than I could give to you already … 

Reference, reference, reference! You could never have too many references! 

Quick line strokes will help you avoid fuzzy lines but there’s nothing wrong with scratchy line work!

Like above scratchy sketching isn’t the end of the world and more often than not is more beautiful and full of life and motion than clean lines so don’t beat yourself up if your lines aren’t perfectly smooth or straight (this is something I’m still working on myself ^^”)

Constructions lines will only ever help you, even if you have to readjust as you draw

Drawing eyes from a front view becomes so much easier when you map out the general construction lines and leave one eye length space between both eyes

Drawing with quick strokes also makes folds in clothes and hair look much more fluid

When coloring always make your background a muted unobtrusive color (many professional artists like to use light grays but I’ve found that a dull unsaturated color between purple and red works best for me, and plain white is best when coloring with dark colors but that’s just me and my eyes so use whatever works best for you!)

Save. For the love of god don’t forget to save.

Study everything around you (again i’m still working on this too!), deconstruct it in your mind and try and keep key shapes, and lighting in mind when drawing it, and back to number 1 don’t be afraid to look up reference for it! There’s this sort of mindset I fall into that if I don’t automatically know how to draw it then i’m a horrible artist and i’ll never draw again and blah blah blah. No don’t let that happen, it’s obviously the worst. I push it aside, look up reference and become much more satisfied with the end product than I had been before.

A little thing that works for me when coloring is drawing an arrow in the direction your light source will be hitting from, it really really helps me a lot with shading

Aaaaaaaaand I think that’s all I can put down for now. I’m definitely not an expert but these are just little things I’ve picked up along the way. A lot of them are pretty common sense but they’re all things I like to keep in mind when drawing and coloring.
