tbh a LOT of killugon quotes can fit kghn
i read hisoka's vday card earlier and was thinking of something and then i started reading azuma's bday backstage and it gave me more food for thoughts about it
it is actually very common?
I'm noticing that Hisoka has a tendency to give gifts to the people he likes pretty easily and they're rather thoughtful gifts? when someone is feeling down he tends to give them marshmallow. but then.
in MMMBM he helps fixing Homare’s watch to gift it back to him. in the Christmas event, he gifts a cat plushy to Sakuya taking into account their conversations about cats and the fact he picked a cat that reminded Sakuya of Hisoka, which feels even more protective knowing the circumstances of the gift. in his cheer event card, he offers MC a cat plushy/pillow because she suffers from insomnia and "cats are the saint patron of sleep so this will bless your sleep i tried it on i swear". on his bday's card he insists in getting a matching keychain with MC and looks to get the rest of his troupe some gifts. In his Vday's card, you learn he took up a job in order to buy gifts to everyone he cares about, and then he buys MC a chocolate shapped like her favorite flower, which he took the time to take by actually refusing marshmallow for once. he also found a wine bottle shaped chocolate and immediately thought it would be nice for Azuma. even in the vday event he immediatly knows how to calm someone by gifting them a balloon art he just made he knew would ease them and then gives out a lot of balloons arts.
and here in bday Azuma, on top of being the one delivering the invitation to Azuma's bday party to the guest of honor, he offered Azuma a bottle of wine that had some herbs in it to give Azuma some self care he loves to use.
there's also when it comes to sweets, the fact he doesn't hesitate to share them with fellow sweet addict Juza and invite him to do sweet related stuff, or how he insists on getting and sharing gingerbread with first Sakuya then all of Mankai (see his coin talk with Chikage), but also gingerbread has the heavy symbolism of "food you share with family" for him so in both case it's extremely thoughtful
i need to pay more attentions to paterns and all but Hisoka really ends up giving out a lot of gifts to people, and actually he does put some thoughts into his gifts, he generally has a reasoning or want to have one for his gifts.
it makes me think because Hisoka is rather minimalist in himself, his troupe had to take him in an ikea date- i mean, shopping trip bc he didn't even sleep with a blanket... it's only after he was gifted a pilow in his base ssr, and then when Itaru gifted him Pen Pen that he really started to cling to something he was given that wasn't food.
and it most likely has to do with how he lived alone in the street for a long while and how it's mostly established that they didn't have much belongings at the Organization (i have hcs about that but i do feel like the org denied them from basic stuff that would make them "normal", that they had to live as shadows and "be ready to disappear and move quickly" so any objets that would be a permanent trace of their identity would not be welcomed)
(in his base SSR’s backstage he comments on how if he had anything that made sleeping comfortable, like a pillow, it’d be a bad thing since it’d mean he’d get used to comfort and he’d fall asleep anywhere. Ever since, the more he accumulates things, the more it’s true he needs comfort. So this “minimalism” was a survival tactic that, now that he’s at Mankai, he doesn’t indulge in anymore, and it extends to how he treats others and how gift-giving is easily his love language at this point.)
in the end we know they shared a lot of foods and that explains why Hisoka has such a "if someone is sad feed them" mentality and is wired on food first (and i mean even moreso since he was starving in the streets before he met August and April and that those two (well, August) approched him with food before offering him a family)
so it explains also why he will think about buying food first as a gift, but ever since he's at Mankai he actually buys material stuff for his friends too? like now he has a home, a place to be, he doesn't have to live on standby.
but yeah he also pours a lot of thoughts in his gifts and doesn't limit to marshmallow actually.... he gives marshmallow generally when it's on the spur of the moment... or to Juza by solidarity....
hisohiso is a good boy....
