"Privet! I am Eva Volkova. May I ask for your name please?" Eva smiled and waved enthusiastically at the blonde, she then slowly brought her hands up to her chest, showing the small, green wolf-like emblem on her third finger's fingernail.
Meanwhile... (@headlessgunman) (Closed RP.)
The stagnant darkness of the late evening in Mitakihara would strike anyone with a hint of sense as a normal night. However, a lone Saint wandered the the streets with a single purpose- finding the one Magi her heart held dear. Kazumi.
Scoping from a building top in her everyday attire, her eyes were bleak but unabashedly alarmed. Kazumi was truly the only thing she had purpose to search for, and now that the other's light had been tainted, Saki was partially devestated and very much set to anger.
Saki surely had a fuel to her irritation. Two sources- a certain yellow Magus adorned in twindrills and a blunette prone to insanity. Kazumi had an unexplainable attachment, to her standards, to the girl named Mami Tomoe. Though it nearly broke her heart, Saki thought she could let such feelings of jealousy go. But now thanks to Sayaka Miki's pushing of Kazumi's emotions, and Mami Tomoe's rejection of her, Saki held nothing but ill will of them both at this point. Now Saki was now in pursuit of her closest friend, hoping she was still in one piece.
When, lo and behold, the yellow Magi entered her sights.
"...Speak of the devil," Saki murmured lowly, transforming into Magi forme minutely, not to attract attention. She bounded from the building, off to confront one that she now could not stand.
The End of Innocence
For anyone in the city today was a day like any other that was nearing the throws of summer. A warming breeze swept through the cityscape, they very picturesque definition of a beautiful day. One that the citizens of Mitakihara reveled in. It was the kind of day that for most would constitute for being an ideal day. Though in spite of the sun peeking over the cotton white clouds and the vast blue of the skies spanning over the horizons, there was one unfortunate soul that was unable to enjoy the precious commodity that occurred during this time of the year.
This was a girl who was at the end of her rope. She had been burned by fate its self. She was a petite young girl with short raven colored hair and ruby red colored eyes and the weight of her own world crashing down on her shoulders. Once a proud Puella Magus she now listlessly shuffled among the denizens of the city. She saw no blue skies and felt no joy from the warm caress of the summer air. She marched on with her head hung low and the shoulders slumped forward as if walking herself to the gallows. Any life in her eyes seemed to have been snuffed out. She was the epitome of the walking dead.
Her name once was Kazusa Michiru, known intimately by her friends that she saw as close as family as Kazumi. She was not always a husk of a girl. In stark contrast to what she appeared as she is now, she was once a girl bubbling over with endless energy and optimism that was practically a beacon of hope to those around her. Her eyes shone with an indelible light that could inspire hope in even the most downtrodden of magical girls.
In fact she was even a hero to the girls that form the Puella Magi group known as the ‘Pleiades Saints.’ A group she unified under her first life that loved her to the point that when her life as a magical girl was drawing to a close before their very eyes, they fought tooth and nail with all of their magic and tried and failed twelve times to form a new house for her soul and a new body that was made from the magical girls’ natural evolution and enemy, Witches.
After the thirteenth time they succeeded as close as they could get. Kazumi was reborn as a hybrid magical girl and witch. The was unfortunately the decline of her second life was when her body began to slowly show signs of slipping into a witch-like state. She was able to pull herself out of it and even control it to an extent, but after that incident was when things began to go horribly wrong. After some time she was able to reform her cheerful disposition upon having not just her fellow teammate Saki Asami show that regardless of her current state she loved her, but her own savior and idol; Mami Tomoe had accepted her as well.
Her feelings for the golden magus actually had began shifting toward a romantic scale and even better she seemed to be gradually reciprocating. Then why does she walk like a girl who had lost everything? It all began spiraling out of control just a mere week ago when she tried picking up fellow magus Sayaka Miki out of her own slump. Just a mere kind gesture that came back and backfired so miserably.
“You’re a hero Sayaka-chan! A warrior of justice and peace!”
That was her mantra to try and break through to the azure knight. Even now it reverberates through her mind on a constant loop. That was the beginning of her end. What started as a simple plea and attempt to raise her friend and ally’s spirits turned into a near physical confrontation and worse yet, a verbal attack that would leave Kazumi with emotional scarring that would not heal over in time. It was perhaps was by a stroke of misfortune she was saved by her idol. Had she been even a fraction later and she might have been able to die with minimal suffering. It was in that evening she saw her in the true form. The form that turned even her own comrades against her, save for one or two.
The final knife in her heart was not her idol trying to warily pick up her spirits from the scars caused by Sayaka calling her nothing more than a mutt, but the look of disconcerted fear in her eyes upon seeing her in a near feral form, even if she was anything but at the time. Seeing that look of suppressed terror was all she needed to know that she would never be viewed as Kazumi the magical girl any longer. No, that image remained forever marred as the visage of Mami that night was forever burned into her memory.
Since that night she found herself unable to cope even with the situation diffused. She found herself rendered unable to even look at herself in the mirror without feeling a deep black hole in the pit of her stomach from disgust in what she truly was. She could only see freak show of a mutt. A mutt that should have been put out of commission not just in that night, but when her first life gave out. She felt she should not even exist by this point. Any hope and optimism faded from her eyes and her proud spirit diminished little by little.
She finds herself now walking aimlessly to no known destination, her life lacking a compass. For the first time she lifts her head and finds herself in one of the grand city’s parks. She finds herself alone and not just in the sense of being the only person present in this area of the park. She no longer feels ties to anyone any longer. She felt completely and irrevocably lost and abandoned with no friend or family to return to. Even her blind ideal of magical girls being a sisterhood were crushed.
She looks up to the vast and nearly endless sky and takes in the view of the the sun setting, the sky now a breathtaking mixture of orange and violet as the sun falls to the horizon and heralds the beginning of nightfall. She could only look to this sight and see but a reflection of her life in its current broken state. Her mind begins to once more drift to that fateful night when her complete existence was shattered from an attempt at a kind act.
Her eyes drifted back down to her own hands and while they appear human all she can see is the corrupted form that she was exposed for having. She no longer even felt on par with being a sub-human. She lazily looked about the With no one around to hear her or see her she breaks the silence she had imposed on herself and begins to speak with sorrow staining her entire voice.
“She said I was still Kazumi—”
Her voice began to slowly dip with a slight edge of bitterness in tandem with clenching her hands into tiny little balls to form fists. Her mind veered off track as her mind vividly recalls the look of horror on Mami’s face. A surge of pain ebbs out from her heart as she clinched her fists as tight as she could. Her eyes slowly slipped shut and shook her head dejectedly.
“The moment she saw me she ceased seeing me as Kazumi. I was just a monster like Sayaka said that I was …” her voice began to soften and her knees began to shake and eventually give way as she dropped down to the fresh cut grass. A cold chill ran through her spine and caused her to shudder, “I’m nothing more than a fake that played make-believe.”
Slowly her eyes reopened, her vision clouded and obscured from a thick layer of tears that had began forming, “Just a filthy mutt and nothing more…” her voice began to quiver as slowly any resistance and resolve she had remaining began to break down as her tears began to stream down her face rapidly, “I was just a dumb girl to think I was still Kazusa. She died that day and was replaced by an imitation. Why did they have to bring me back as this?! I’m just another failure, the thirteenth failure.”
She unclinched her hands and buried her face into her palms as she proceeded her sorrow ridden soliloquy, “Why did Mami let me live? She saw what I am, why didn’t she end my meaningless existence when I gave her my soul gem to shoot? My very life and existence is just lie…”
She slowly began to lift her face out of her palms, the cool evening air blowing through her hair and cooling the warm tears that stain her face. If anyone could see her they would be staring at the very definition of the word 'broken,' “I should be dead, I’m no use to anyone now. Just a phony Kazumi…”
Ti-Ting Ting.
Her bell shaped earring rings out in the silence that permeated when Kazumi ceased speaking. It continued ring repeatedly and as she began to speak she felt as though a sharp pain had stabbed her through the heart and began to course through out her body. It was a pain like no other. It shot through her arms and felt like thousands of needles prickling at every pore. It caused her fall over onto her hands. She clinched her eyes shut as the pain was so unbearable. Her breathing was uneven and ragged.
She slowly mustered the willpower to open her eyes and a wave of shock hit her from what she saw. Her arms involuntarily hand transformed to that wicked warped state from that night. Panic seized her as she tried to stand, but only managed to stumble backward and hit a nearby tree somewhat hard. She was more disturbed by this occurrence. She gazed down at the malicious state of her hands with an absolute look of terror on her face.
“W—-What’s going on with me?! I-I usually can control this. Why’s my body doing this?! Come on—-” she shut her eyes once more as her voice trembled, “G-Go back to normal!” She tried to focus and clear her mind, but all she could see was dark fog slowly eclipsing her consciousness. Immediately out of fear she shot her eyes open and to her own dismay, her hands remained in their present warped state.
Her heart began to race as a cold sweat begins to drip and run down her face as bit by bit her own composure came apart at the seems, “Wh-guh!” She could not even muster words as her own voice got caught in her throat as the pain began anew.
T—Ting Ting Ting crackle
What Kazumi could hear but not see was side from the one earring that served not just as a bell earring also had gained a couple hairline fractures running down it. All she could hear was ring after ring after bloody ring as a new pain began to overtake her body. It was as if her whole body was being contorted and systematically lit aflame. The screams that were emitting from her voice slowly began to turn from the screams of a young girl in anguish and contort into distorted wails of writhing agony. Such noises that may have grabbed the attention of anyone who could hear her in the vicinity would just turn them away in primal fear from these warped and guttural noises.
She remain braced only by the tree else wise she would have long since fallen. She began to yell aloud at herself in her unsettling disfigured and tortured voice as slowly her arms from claw to forearm began to reshape and reform into tendrils, “A—-ghnn W-hat’s going o—on with me—!? It hurts … someone... ANYONE make it stop!!IT HURTS!!“
She opened her eyes once more not realizing that her pupils had once more taken that strange “S” split and not even taking note that her teeth now reformed into razor sharp fangs. The pain was agonizing to the point that she could barely even form a coherent thought. Her mind was so over-encumbered could hardly even hear her own screams as the corruption spread down to her slender legs as they began to discolor and take on the same jet black pigment of her now coil like tendrils that were once her arms.
Echoing through her mind was the relentless sound of her earrings chiming as slowly her body was eroding. It had gotten to the point that it almost felt like she was outside her own body and watching a horror show take place. It was all so painful that it was surreal. The ringing, oh dear merciful god the ringing it almost seemed like the seemingly endless chiming was mocking her by this point.
The cape that she normally wore as a magus manifested its self and around the mantel and shoulders bells resembling her earrings had manifested. The cape its self had elongated to being longer than it regularly was and appeared tattered along the fringes. Next her hat materialized and was much larger as it was sinister in its appearance with two bells also adorning adjacent from each other on it.
The corruption spread through the wisp-like coils that were once her legs and up to hip level. By this point the unbearable pain coursed throughout her tiny frame had become little more than a dull throb, having passed her physical threshold for pain. She had to struggle and combat through the influence that was overtaking her to speak.
“S—-So this is how it ends… S—Saki-chan wherever you are.. I—- I am so sorry that I caused you and our friends so much grief. If you find me, please don’t make a fourteenth.. J-Just let me go… I’m sorry I couldn’t have been a much better friend… You’re my most precious and treasured friend.. and Mami-chan… I’m so sorry that I scared you. I know we may never see each other again except in heaven—- b—but I thank you.. for saving my life that day and even on that wretched evening… Thank you for also giving me a shot by romance …”
Stopped midway as once more she began to fight back even harder to avoid being swallowed up by the black void that was was consuming her very being. She managed a meager chuckle and a faint and weakened smile. Outwardly her sclera began to change to a pitch black, signaling her resistance was waning along side with her very soul its self. Even her writhing agony had ceased as she slowly began to accept her fate.
“Please if you see me as I am now, just kill me. Please..? I’m sorry we could not have gotten to know you better.. my time’s almost up so please … even if it’s mother earth herself that hears my last words .. just let it be known …nng … I love you Tomoe Mami-chan..”
With her voice on the verge of a weak wisp her internal battle fades and so does her world go black. One final reverberating ring from her earring and an ear splitting crack could be heard. With that her body went limp and slumped over lifelessly. Soon she would undergo her last stage of existence. Her only meaning left in this world to be found and thankfully extinguished from this world completely. So ended the life of Kazusa Michiru…
Ah, one of those role players on Tumblr has a "Pimp Mami" version of me. Hehe, Tumblr users are quite imaginative, aren't they?
