                          The words echo in the empty room, cavernous without the memories of herself and her father to fill it; cold and metallic and inorganic in the truest sense.  Father is gone ( again ) and she is raw ( again ) and she is alone ( again ) but ------ never let it be said that Allura does not PORTRAY STRENGTH.  The mice are her confidants, but when their concern grows too great or they are with another, she oft opts for the silence of the room which once house the AI of her father.  Speaking her fears into the nothing as though he were still there to correct them.

               She can imagine his words now ------ ‘ do not lose hope, allura.  they depend on you, and you must depend on hope. ’  It is not the same, but it is better than falling apart.  It always is.

                    This habit of hers remains a secret; or at least it HAS.  She worries what they would think of her, of this weakness; that she is not yet whole.  Yet a sound alerts her suddenly that she is not alone and, within the faint light she spins on her heel, eyes wide and FAINTLY PANICKED.  Oh, no.  She’s been CAUGHT.

                                                   “Shiro, I --- how long have you been here --- ?”
