It was supposed to be a fairly average day at work, except for the addition of Bao Bao snuggled up under her desk. The puppy wasn’t used to being home alone so had been spending many of his days huddled under the blankets and whimpering until Evie returned home. Feeling so sorry for her baby, she decided to bring him along to the school, along with a few snacks. She hoped that Neukmin wouldn’t be so bothered.
And he wasn’t. In fact, he had yet to even show up for work, though she hadn’t much time to consider it; not since Dorian’s call. Afraid, though confused by what was happening, Evie quickly locked up the office with a flick of her wand. She bundled up Bao Bao against her chest and hid herself in Neukmin’s office, under his desk.
Being in front of the camera was second time was much easier than before, though Evie had to admit that she was still somewhat uncomfortable. In her sheer white bra and matching panties, she was certain that her father would kill her if he saw the photos, though the satin wrap around she had was an improvement at least.
Sitting on the prop bed, she gave the photographer her sweetest smile, then innocent or sultry. Though she sparkled in set, the resulting images were merely pretty – it was good enough anyway, and the casting director had already mentioned having her in again on a casual basis. Evie nodded; she didn’t know how to say no, and the photos were nice at least.
“And we’re done,” the photographer announced, “Thanks, Evie. The photos look great. We’re wrapped for the next issue then.”
“Thank you for having me back,” she responded in a soft, sweet voice, “I hope that they were what you were looking for... I think I still need to get used to this a little more.”
She was still in bed until Dorian arrived, her thick blanket wrapped around her thin shoulders and Bao Bao snuggled into her arms. Though the crying had finally stopped, she’d been trying to stifle them since her Daddy called, her eyes were still puffy and Evie doubted that she looked at all bridal material. “Daddy didn’t mean to be mean right?” she mumbled, glancing down at the puppy’s sad expression - he hated to see her upset, but he hated even more knowing why Evie was hurt. She sighed, “No, you’re right, Bao Bao. He was mean... but it was just the alcohol right?” The question threatened to bring back tears again and Evie bit them back just as the door bell rang.
She pushed herself out of bed, her long shirt falling off of her shoulders and the corgi still clinging to her chest. Evie opened the door, her shyly puffy eyes and mess of blonde curls peeks out from behind the front door, “Dorian, you’re here.”
Evie couldn’t recall the last time she had spent that long on getting ready but considering that this was the first time she would officially be meeting Neukmin as his future wife - and his family. She was nervous beyond belief, pixies fluttering in her stomach but with a final swipe of her lipstick and the smoothing out of her dress, she was finally ready. Was it too early for her to be wearing white? Perhaps, but the flowing skirt matched so well with her blonde curls that she couldn’t resist.
“Do I look okay, Daddy?” she asked, jittering in her heels, “Do you think they’ll like me? What if grandmere was right and they change their minds as soon as they meet me? Or if they realise that–”
Mr Leclair laughed, “Honey, they will love you just fine. Come on, let’s go inside so I can show off my perfect little daughter.”
Evie took a deep breath, calming herself for a moment before nodding, “Okay, Daddy.” One foot in front of the other and she stepped in through the front doors, the first time she had ever taken foot into the Lee residence.
( * -- an innocent soul aurelie belle lamoureux was. she’s not too sure what love is, but it’s all weird to her. the girl has never had a boyfriend or girlfriend. yet alone, her first kiss. so, out of curiousity—she decided to disturb one of her favourite big brothers, dorian lee! she looked up to him as a rolemodel because well.. he was worthy. she was like an annoying little sister who doted on him twenty-four seven. * ) nii-chan! ( * -- the honourific was in japanese. the word isn’t unfamiliar to her to use, she’s used it many times before around dorian. she waved her hand rapidly and energetically because she was so happy to see her close friend. * ) how have you been? is there anyone you like?
katarina promised herself that it’ll all over be soon. that she would eventually disappear from his life just like that. she’s forgettable, she knew that much. there wasn’t any specialty behind her existence besides that she was a half-veela and sorted into the ravenclaw house. she was a typical, simplistic girl who had too many issues going on behind closed doors. issues she wouldn’t dare speak up to her best friend, dorian. in this case, she told him everything from head-to-toe except for one monster that rendered her fragile—
leukaemia, they called it. she had a check-up awhile back, only to find out that she wouldn’t have much time to live if she didn’t go through chemotherapy. she couldn’t imagine it, if the pain of the illness was much to bear or the fact that she wasn’t going to see her best friend in forever. she was putting everything that meant so much to her, all behind.
she knew that her long-flowing light brown tresses would be chopped off in a couple weeks. she knew that it wouldn’t be the same, the state her physical health was going to be. she couldn’t allow him to see that. not those that she cared for. katarina, at the very least wanted to write an owl to him or even better, a letter she could give to him in person. in the end, she decided to write a handwritten letter that she could give to him in person
inside the envelope was written:
dear my dearest, precious fruit oppa,
this is katarina writing to you. do you know how much you mean to me? do you know how much you are very precious and dear to me? you mean a lot to me, you know. as i write this, i may or may not be here anymore.. we’ve shared a lot of good times. a lot of memories that kept our friendship strong. you’ve made me smile so much. you’ve made me so happy that i forgot that burden i was going through because of my parents. you know.. they’re not the best right? but, i’m glad to be here at hogwarts because of you and my friends. you guys kept giving me a reason to fight and on and on. but unfortunately.. all good things must come to an end. including us, including me.. and you deserve better.
trust me, i didn’t want to hurt you. in fact, i think even if i don’t know what’s going to happen in the future.. i think it’s best to say that i can’t be here for you anymore. as the tears stain this letter, i’m not sure how much i have long left to live. i wanted to tell you this in person, face-to-face but i can only weep like a child and write it on this letter. i’m going to disappear for a while. that’s why i said i wouldn’t be here.. for you..
also.. i’ve always liked you.. more than a friend.. just so you know. you big fat idiot. <3
sincerely,
katarina valentina.
please take care of yourself.
i’m doing this for the best.. forget me. please..?
she wrote the letter a night ago but when she wanted to give it to him, she couldn’t. she only kept it buried in a box, full of secrets, like her illness. something she would never tell him.
she was leaving today, her bags packed with her clothes and all her belongings. she was going back to barcelona in ten minutes. a flight back to the muggle world.
After being accepted onto her house’s Quidditch team, it had become almost routine to make a daily visit after practice was let up to the infirmary. She was prone to accidents, prone to hurting herself in any way imaginable --- From deep cuts and scrapes to a bruised rib. She made sure to make those special visits there not only in search of some help, but also to talk to the boy who was in there.
His name was Dorian, and he was sweet. Miri absolutely adored that about him, well --- It was something she adored in anyone really, but with him it was different. He wanted to help people, and that gave Miri hope that there were plenty of good people out there. Though she had come across a few from time to time that could easily sway her mind about that, but still --- She remained hopeful and happy each time she thought of the young man and what he does.
He was just a few years older than her, and she could swear she had a class with him once upon a time whenever he still attended Hogwarts as a student. But they never spoke much, only the occasional hellos and goodbyes. But that was the norm --- Now after realizing who he was her first time entering the infirmary, she couldn’t stop coming back just to talk to him.
As the young witch made her long stride down the corridor, she couldn’t help but to wear a rather bright smile that allowed her pearly whites to shine through for all to see. In her hand she held a small bag containing some simple, yet very delicious chocolate chip cookies she made earlier in the day --- They were ready for consumption, and she couldn’t quite go without giving him some.
Miri was swift, getting into the room without the other noticing --- Giving her an opportunity to surprise him completely. She crept up behind him, knowing that he probably already heard her come in but was simply going to play along just for fun --- Either way, she didn’t care. One hand held the bag carefully while the other wrapped around him from behind, hugging the boy tightly for a moment as she remained hidden behind his larger frame; Face hiding in his shirt just for the fun of it.
katarina roaming around the hallways of the castle carelessly, without a single idea in mind as to what she was going to do next. her classes were over, it was her free time of the day before she would stuff her face with endless, countless of spellbooks and studying. they’re her lover, books and all that jazz. she didn’t have any time for anything else nowadays other than studying, maintaining her grades at school. otherwise, her parents wouldn’t be happy with the results.
although, katarina might’ve deemed off as a goody miss two shoes right off the spot but she wasn’t like that all the way. she had her moments too, just like anyone else but didn’t want to expose it to just anyone. she lived her life happily.. on several occasions ( when she wasn’t being such a gloom little princess ). whistling through the hallways eased her mind, it was a quiet melody. not too loud or obnoxious.
she kept passing through the hallways until she found herself losing balance, thud. landing on her arse! she was a klutz. “crap..” she winced in pain upon the impact. she wasn’t going to end up going to the infirmary. “watch where you’re going—“ she said out loud, rudely and bluntly. she wasn’t in the mood for this. as she narrowed her eyes to the person she clashed against, it was someone she wasn’t expecting.
