dear celeste,

when this letter reaches you, i won’t be in nohr anymore. i will have packed my things and left with my family — on our way back to hoshido. we’ve got a nation to rebuild in the south. but this isn’t the reason why i am writing you. this isn’t a farewell, this is a ‘thank you’. i grew up surrounded by people who used to say that RHYME about sticks and stones. surrounded by people who said i’m a lost cause because of my heritage. surrounded by people who made me feel like i’d live a lonely life, like the sun wasn’t something that was made for me, that i’d never meet someone who’d make me feel like i was being judged by my OWN personality. i felt like i had to fight every day and i was left outnumbered day after wretched day. but you ? you’re different. by the gods, you made me feel like a human whenever i was around you. you saw my heart before you saw my family tree. you made me feel like i had a PURPOSE in this life. i woke up every day, i tried my best every day, i approached every day with a smile. it’s all because of you. if i had the guts i would have told you just HOW MUCH your really mean to me. i already miss the days we didn’t spent trying to survive on the battlefield, but the days we spent laughing, the days we spent being competition for the sun with our smiles. i’m only concerned for how we’ll remain because i love you i hope you’ll find a retainer who can keep you safe with the same devotion i did.

maybe we’ll meet again, if not in this life, maybe in another. but the nohr-hoshido peace treaty should allow it.
