Teo from Heart Hex comic  had so much fun drawing my friend @tendermiri ‘s OC as a commission ; 0 ;

     THE SMELL OF cigarettes stain her fingers, and every time she brushes her hair from her face, she catches a whiff. It makes her wrinkle her nose in disgust– she had tried so hard the past month to quit – and crawl out of bed to wash away the scent as much as she can.

     She’s been trying something new lately. Mainly, she’s been trying to stay as sober as she can, to cut out her vices, to do anything to feel less like a human pile of garbage and more like there’s something she can aspire to. 

     She traces the long crack on her sink’s sealant with a wet finger, watching as the water slowly fills the basin, bubbles foaming upwards with it. Her heart sinks. She knows she needs to call her landlord to fix the crack, to find out how that water stain formed next to her refrigerator, to give her some solace that she doesn’t have to fix everything in her life by herself. The knob squeaks as she cuts off the water, drips rippling the mountain of bubbles away from the faucet. 

     Eulalie knows that this thinking is exactly why her hands smell like tobacco in the first place. She cycles between this wallowing pity and then determination to feel better, with her go-to pick me up being a night at a bar with her vice-ridden friends. How long is the cycle going to last? How long can she hold herself afloat in that condition? 

     Until I’m dead in the ground, she hopes, a grim smile planting itself on her lips.

This is probably the last of the comic version of Heart Hex.

Unfortunately, I have a lot of undiagnosed nerve pain and possible damage that makes drawing comics unmanageable for the unforeseeable future. It’s taken all year to really come to terms with that, and figure out a way to continue Heart Hex in a way I’m happy with that won’t damage my health further.
