(An otome game is a story-based video game that is targeted towards women. Generally one of the goals, besides the main plot goal, is to develop a romantic relationship between the female player character and one of several male characters.)
So I will admit that I only played one rout in this game. The main heroin kinda dragged her ass and didn't have any real interest in the relationship you are supposed to be forming. I picked Carver, the rude short rival with fabulous hair. Due to him being kinda the Tsudere character of the game, I felt like I was fighting both him and the MC to make their relationship work. I get that the options are meant to be funny, the creator themselves said none of the guys are 'good', but still. When I play these I wanna feel nice about the relationship developing on screen.
As I played it felt like I was supposed to be going down the best friends track. He was a romantic choice, but I decided to go for Carver from the start and was a bit put out at first that it felt like the best friend was gonna get in the way and confess at anytime. I'm cool with those story lines, but only when I'm playing that character's rout, not the rivals.
The art was okay. It wasn't the best or most flashy, but the stills and 'talk sprites' got the job done. My issues with the art comes in with the CGs. For anyone who doesn't know, a CG is a detailed picture you get for retching a part of the story a normally romantic or steamy scene is happening, primarily at the end and/or the first kiss. And for what I've seen, the art was bad. I don't know if it was color, anatomy or the overall character design of the MC that I didn't like, but I was disappointed with my big ending kiss with Carver.
It was fun, but Not worth a replay IMO.
