This is one of the old stock Hemimorphite specimens we came across at the end of summer this year. It was mined back in 1994! Unfortunately it is rather difficult to find good quality Hemimorphite any longer and you have to be careful that it is not actually Smithsonite which many people confuse it with. You can see the turquoise blue coloring matches well with the blue in 🦚 peacock feathers! This piece sparkles as it is rotated in the light which you can see a video of in our story. The Hemimorphite is growing over a layer of matrix. This specimen actually stand on its own so that is display perfectly. Using the energy of this stone, one can truly feel their essence as divinity. A handful of Chatoyancy!!! Ummm yes please! We just listed these beautiful polished pieces of Pietersite from Namibia in our Etsy store. The chatoyancy comes from the amphibole fibers that are embedded in Chalcedony. When the fibers line up in the the same or parallel direction, the movement that you see when the stone is rocked back and forth, and the light that reflects off of the fibers, is what is known as chatoyant or chatoyancy for those who are not familiar with the term. Magenta Sugilite! Yes please😻For some reason, certain colors in minerals and gems are more coveted than others. This is the case with Magenta Sugilite vs the Royal Purple or grayer purple colors most people are used to. In gemological terms, this would be considered redish purple vs violet or blueish violet meaning the purple was predominate but had some red coloring to warm the hue up instead of more predominately blue or violet which would be a cooler hue. The Sugilite is growing in veins between the Manganese, giving the colors great contrast. It also has a gem edge.
