favorite word?
It probably should be fuck for how often I say it, but I love the word chatoyancy!
Here he is ...
Better-quality photos of the Forest Guitar! (A PRK-10 kit from Solo.) I'm particularly fond of the beetle-chatoyance effect I accidentally achieved on the back.
In which I talk about gemstones and bezels for 8 minutes.
Fancy new word of the day: Chatoyancy. (Pronounced shə-ˈtȯi-ən(t)-sē). In wood, chatoyancy is when the wood is compressed and the fibers curl back on themselves becoming more dense. This causes stunning 3D effects reminding of waves or blotches that shimmer in the light. Polishing or adding oils and waxes help bring out the wanted trait, but stabilizing brings it to the next dimension. As some areas in the wood are more dense than others, it will naturally allow less color to penetrate there and further emphasize the effect. The word chatoyancy is best used when you want to confuse your friends and family when the topic is about wood having curls. Use the word wisely as it may spark a debate on being a smartass. . . . #bladepoint #chatoyancy #curlybirch #woodstabilizing #customknives #knifemakingsupplies #knifemakingcommunity #messermacher #couteauartisanal #puukko #puukkoknife #tollekniv #madeinfinland #knifemaking #knifelife #knifeporn (på/i Finland) https://www.instagram.com/p/CgL-kCyMPYA/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
