"Men will go to great length to prove they're not cowards, especially if they really are."
( @heartfulmonster )
Cigarette smoke gently drifts towards the ceiling as Zeno inhales a slow breath, scarcely even bothering to look up at whoever's talking to him. He didn't need to; their presence had itself quite known, the clone already picking up on dislike simmering beneath broad muscles with the subtlety of a rocket launcher blowing it's target to smithereens. "Interesting advice coming from fresh meat. I'm guessing you're the new asset." Zeno finally grunts, exhaling low and deep. His head turns just a fraction to observe the other man and he's not disappointed to see he looks exactly like he sounds. Brutal scars lined harsh features, making the man look every bit as cuddly as a rabid BOW. Definitely not human either given his strange scent which Zeno can pick up through the acrid tang of tobacco, noting it wasn't viral-based but still managing to carry an air of menace beyond making a few unfriendly words. He'd heard about this one from the higher-up's. Jack Krauser, the latest plaything the Connections had scraped up from fuck knows where. Either they'd pressed Jack into their service like so many others had been or he'd come willingly for money and power, either of which could be true of a mercenary like him. Zeno inhales on his cigarette again, making no effort to hide the way his lip curls in pure disdain for the other man's presence. "Just for that, here's some advice of my own. Don't start getting any big ideas around here. Right now you're a small fish in a very big pond, and there's always a bigger fish with sharper teeth just waiting for the chance to snap you right up..." With that he tilts his head back against the wall, the two clearly off to a fantastic start in their working relationship together.

Zeno stiffens at the feel of Krauser's strong fingers lacing around his bicep, tensing as the other man nudges him until his back presses against the cold tiles behind him. At first he suspects he's after a fight, seizing the opportunity to start one now they were out of earshot of the higher-up's but the way he changes his stance, pushing the clone until he's up against the wall is suddenly telling a very different story. He can smell the interest practically oozing from the mercenary’s pores, hear his heart rate stepping up a pace as he leers down at his smaller adversary. Oh. Oh. Realisation hits Zeno hard and fast, taking in a sharp breath as the other man's touch causes his own body to respond in turn. Goosebumps prickle along his skin, droplets of water still dripping to the floor as he takes in the wall of muscle cornering him trying to think how he was going to get out of this. Or if he even wanted to. He could tear his arm free. Throw a punch and finish cleaning himself off but he had to admit, despite their tense first meeting, Krauser was an interesting man. That powerful body was lined with the kind of scars he'd never earn from battle and his body belied a rare strength he didn't often see in non-mutated individuals, tempting Zeno in ways few others had. Fighting was one thing but this? Thin lips twitch with the barest hint of a smirk, feeling his blood begin to flow downwards. Zeno wasn't used to playing around with men but he'd be a liar if he couldn't admit to being slightly interested in the ruthless mercenary. After all, watching how Krauser carved his opponents up did things to him, the clone never quite able to get the way the man moved out of his head.
"Huh. And here I was thinking you didn't like me." Zeno quips, slowly running his tongue over his bottom lip while looking up into the other's scarred face. He doesn't miss how Krauser's looking at him, how the man's practically devouring him with his eyes the way a tiger does a deer before it pounces but the bigger man already has his claws wrapped around his prey, making no secret of just how hungry he was for more than just physical contact. Was it a bad idea to go along with what was happening just to see how far Krauser was willing to take things? Probably. Had he been cooped up far too long and was perfectly okay with subjecting himself to that just to scratch an itch? Absolutely.
He relaxes, leaning back against the damp tiles as he shows his throat like he did during their first spat, making no effort to hide his half-hard member. Krauser certainly wasn't shy about approaching him and his own arousal was making itself known, causing Zeno to shiver in apprehension. His body language says it all. Go ahead. Don't be shy. I can handle whatever you throw at me.
"and who might you, be?" he looks the woman up and down with a critical eye, arms crossed.

Dark brows twitch, furrow inward as Ada regards her taller counterpart with a moderate disinterest and a loosely held intrigue.
Not yet familiar with who stand 'fore her, but Ada never approached anything without an ounce of preparation —— enough information garnered to feel secure, find her footing amidst a sea of unknowns.
" I'm sure you'd like to know, mm ? " Coy in nature, a near sly - smile pulling at painted brims. A pause, eyes cast elsewhere for a moment. " Another one of Wesker's contacts. "
It's a decision that comes well - calculated, no use in withholding an identity already infamous ; especially when they shared a liasion.
A gloved hand offered, hum on her tongue. " Ada Wong. "

❝ And you're a lot more alive than I remember, Krauser. ❝ His former mentor's sudden comeback, albeit unexpected, does not unsettle him nearly as much as he feels it should. Umbrella's creations are nothing if not resilient and Krauser had already been a hardy bastard in life. Leon readies his hatchet, braces himself for the inevitable fight. He'd put Krauser down again if he had to, he managed to do so once after all with the Plagas parasite still active inside his body. Now there's the T-Virus, slowly and silently chipping away at what is left of him. Ironic, how they're back at the very same start once more. ❝ What do you want this time, major? ❝
@heartfulmonster sent: "i didn't know we were recruiting from the circus."
the guy’s got only one thing wrong with that statement — heisenberg isn’t a recruit. the dog tag is decorative; an old factory used during wwii was bound to have some neat little historical trinkets lying around. the circus part, however, the village was certainly a one – of – a – kind shitshow, and he’d lived there his whole miserable life, so he felt qualified to say so.
that said, heisenberg has the distinct impression the man isn’t commiserating, and he’s trying to insult him. well. rather uncalled for. he looks the man over. all that military posture, the special brand of contempt that his ilk seem to come pre - loaded with. he doesn’t seem to be part of the Big Stupid Asshole Association, but heisenberg feels like those groups are all the same, anyway.
the guy’s trying to get a rise out of him, most likely. establish something. and heisenberg isn’t the type to take that kind of mouth from some bulked – up soldier boy.
“ well, why not? ” he snorts, “ seems like the best recruitment strategy to me — scout from other circuses. makes perfect sense. ”
he pushes his glasses up by the rim and lets out a short, sharp huff. he takes quiet inventory of his remaining patience at this very second, and he’s not loving what he finds.
“ look, i get the feeling we're starting off on the wrong foot. ” well, that certainly was one way to describe it, wasn’t it? the generous way that left room for course correction and mutual goodwill and all that garbage. though he thinks they'd have to amputate and replace them if they wanted the right feet, at this point.
You've done well to make it this far, rookie. I've prepared a battlefield up ahead, just for us soldiers. Watered by the blood of generations, hundreds of years, it's the perfect place to put an end to what happened two years ago.
