"The heart doesn’t wear a watch…"
~ from Jeff Brown's book, ‘Hearticulations"
By Jeff Brown from his book “Hearticulations”
We are all tired. Really we are. It’s a hard road, but it’s also a beautiful one. Perhaps we expect too much from ourselves and from others. Perhaps humanity can only make slow progress, like an inchworm. Perhaps we need to celebrate how far we have come. And rest more. And relish the simple pleasures. And look for love everywhere. There is a river near where I live. It meanders slowly, peacefully. It doesn’t ask itself why it isn’t an ocean, or a raging river, or some other thing. It just surrenders to what it is. Maybe we just need to surrender more to who we are. I think I will lie down tomorrow beside the river. And take a rest. Sweet surrender.
From Jeff Brown's book 📕Hearticulations
"The measure of a healthy society is not how effectively it elevates its achievers, but how compassionately it supports those who have fallen."
We can't meet someone where they haven't met themselves. We may want to, but wanting doesn't make it so. Everyone's on their own unique journey. You can't push them to catch up with you. It just doesn't work like that. If they try, something will get broken or lost along the way. And they will actually end up further away from you than before. Better to honor their steps, just like you want others to honor yours. If you can't meet at the same place, bow to them and walk on. Do not guilt or shame them for being where they are. Respect it. It's their path to walk.
